.X. ----------------------------------- Everything he saw was complete utter darkness until there was a flash of light. After the flash of light, Jake came flying down, landing face first into the ground. Lucky for him that snow soften his landing. After a minute or two, the sixteen year old finally got up to his feet still not notice that he wasn’t in his beloved kingdom anymore. It was not until a gust of icy wind that hit him before realizing where he was. “Come on guys this isn’t funny anymore…. The joke’s over...” Jake didn’t know what to think at first maybe it was Markus or Seth was playing a tick on him or something. He waited a few moments for an answer of any kind, but there was none. The younger teen let out a sigh, thinking to himself of how the hell did this even happen. There was one thing he knew that he wasn’t in Umacia anymore. In Umacia it was in the middle of spring, but here, whatever here was, it was obliviously winter.
In this point in time, Jake had no idea of what to think. He hasn’t ever bee this confused and lost in his life. Sure, there was countless times of the idiot getting lost, but back home everything looked kind of familiar. The sixteen year old just stood there in the snow, looking like a lost puppy of some kind. The only good thing that came out of this was that the moron actually brought his sword and pack with him unlike last time. He let out yet another sigh, Now what I am gonna do? Maybe if I try walking back the way I came I’ll somehow get back home…? The young knight thought to himself. After all he had to at least try something than just stand here and freeze to death.

Golden eyes flickered in the shadows of the trees, thick paws smothered in thick ebony fur crept closer to the herd, making no noise. A shiver passed through her body and one of the does heads shot towards her, suddenly sensing the approaching danger and the monstrous wolf, to the best of its abilities, grinned. Its mouth pulling up in a feral sneer. Red enjoyed a good chase. Lunging from between the trees, the herd took off in a desperate attempt to flee. Thick paws sunk into the snow and lifted free just as quickly, the elders and the young being left to her mercy. Adrenaline fierce and powerful fueled her body forward and in a single pounce, her massive frame toppled one of the does and together they tumbled. Her teeth winding around its jugular and snapping the precious vein. The creature flailed lamely beneath her and quickly fell still.
The snapping and cracking of bones filled the small space between the trees and slowly the massive wolf vanished leaving the small framed woman in its stead. A whinny pierced the air and a dappled grey mare, tenderly named Coco, trotted between the trees. Red quickly reached in the saddle bags pulling out her hunting gear and pulling it on, lest the cold chill her. It would do her no good to go traipsing through the woods naked. She bound her kill in ropes and wrapped it in bloodstained cloth before tying the creature to the horses saddle and grabbing her by the halter. Nothing better to quite start the day than a fresh hunt. A voice caught her sensitive ears and she turned, head cocking to the side, it was rare anyone other than a hunter was out so early and if they were being that loud she highly doubted it was a hunter.
"Come love... let us see." The horse snorted, ever the sarcastic personality and Red rolled her eyes slowly guiding her horse through the woods, until she chanced upon a... boy? His attire was quite bizarre and she imagined he did not fit in too well here. "Hello? Are you alright?" Red dropped the reins and the mare stayed where she was, snorting her annoyance but obeying her mistress all the same. Red weaved between the trees and trotted up the boy, a wide smile painted across her face. "Names Red! Are you lost?"

.X. ----------------------------------- Was he lost? At this point, he didn’t even know where he was or how he even got here. Just a second ago, he was in the forest just outside of the village. It was in the middle of summer and was just starting to get dark out with the celebration going on. Now he’s in the middle of some strange forest freezing, due to the fact he was wearing shorts and a short sleeve shirt, and as far as he could tell its morning. “Um… Hi. I’m Jake. I’m just cold, but nothing I can’t handle.” Jake said, taking a quick look around his current surrounding. Where ever this place was it wasn’t anything back home in Umacia. Maybe it was a neighboring kingdom of some sort? He should have paid more attention during his class. The teen was quite for about two or three minutes, trying to figure out just how in the world did something like could ever happen. There was magic back in his homeland, but he never knew someone was ever able to do something like this. “Where are we right now? How do I get back home to Umacia? My family is having a party for him and I need to get back.” Even though the sixteen year old rather not go back, he knew he had to. After all, it was kind of his fault for not passing the writing portion of the test to become a knight. All Jake could do now is wait until next year and hopefully pass this time around.
A cold, icy breeze passed through, making the young boy start shivering. Was it just him or was it starting to get colder by the minute. “Is there like a cave or something around here? I’m probably going to get frost bite if I don’t get warm.” Yet again Jake probably should have listened to his mother’s maid about bring a coat just in case. “Sorry for the trouble…” He wasn’t exactly sure why he was apologizing. It just felt like the right thing to do given the odd situation he was placed in.[/ size]

Red almost kicked herself for not noticing his state of undress. She almost frowned when she thought of this child being dragged here for another realm, did he have family, friends? She dealt with a vast majority of those that wound up here, she ran the Golden Inn and she could only assume that the same had happened to this child. Guilt crawled up her spine. No one deserved to be ripped away from their home and while Red had not created the curse that was causing all of this, she felt a great deal of guilt for those that were affected by it. As soon as the first words had escaped his mouth she was pulling her signature red cloak from her back and tossing it around his shoulders, invading his personal space instinctively, it was in her nature to help, and she tied it tightly. It was thick, heavy material, she scarcely needed it, but she had always worn one, it came in handy in situations like this.
"How long have you been out here? you are likely to catch your death, not just frostbite, if you remain." She caught her bottom lip between straight white teeth and whistled for her mare. The dappled grey trotted forward, dragging the doe behind it. She patted her lovingly on the neck and the mare whinnied, glancing at the young boy with a bit of skepticism. "Oh be nice." Red chastised the horse before it had the chance to do something foul. She promptly snorted. "Come, get on, she's a pretty good horse I promise. I will explain on the way back to town. I own a rather large Inn and you are no inconvenience, so please don't apologize."
"I have never heard of Umacia... you are currently in the Kingdom of Aledon, the king and Queen are named Charming and Snow. I don't think I will be able to return you to your home, this world is plagued by a dark curse. It pulls people from different worlds, different lands and drags them here without reason or cause. If this is what happened to you, you may stay as long as you would like at my Inn and I will help you in any way I can." She spoke as softly and as kindly as she was possibly able. She realized how overwhelming everything must be to the poor child, the curse was not fair, it cared little who it damaged or who it harmed, and she wished like hell Regina was suffering in whatever dark pit she had crawled into.

.X. ----------------------------------- All of this was too much for him to handle. Being sent to another whole world was something he never knew could happen. What would Jake’s parents do when they noticed that their third born was not coming home for his twin’s party. Surely they knew he was not the type to run away, nor was he the type to skip out on family. He has to get back home no matter what the costs. Even though he probably guessed that not many people would miss him due to that fact that he was the trouble maker of the family. “Who made the curse? They have to be pretty messed up to do something like this…. Is there any way to break the curse? Have people from the same world showed up before?” The sixteen year old still didn’t accept the fact that all this was really happening. For all he knew, all of this could be a dream or that is what he hoped it was.
Everything would take time to get used to. Maybe it actually was a good thing Jake was sent here alone. His parents always told him he needed to grow up and stop acting like a child. Hopefully here in Aledon he could become a knight here or so he wished. “Are you here originally? Do you know the king and queen?” Now it was time for the annoying side of Jake to come out. He needed something to get his mind of current situation and of how cold he was. He usually was a very happy-go-lucky kid. Always fooling around, playing various pranks on the townspeople although he did not do it alone, Jake’s partner in crime was clearly Jacob, his twin.
At this point, the sixteen year old didn’t know what to think or even do. Everything was going to be different than to what he was used to. “Do they need any knights? Back in Umacia I was training to become one, but I failed the test that my twin brother passed.” That was another thing that was still kind of bothering him even if he didn’t let it show. Jake was not the type to let others know that something was wrong. He usually dealt with it the best way he could.

She gnawed her bottom lip, doing her best to be patient and leading her pretty horse easily, she hoped, at least, the mares heat combined with her cloak would warm him a little bit. It was all she had aside from the wolf... and the last thing the poor kid needed to see right now was a ton pound animal with teeth the size of his forearm. Oh damn... she really needed to focus, more than likely the kid would need a friend at this point and he would just have to settle for Red... and she wasn't sure she was the best option available for him.
"I know not who created such a curse. originally, we were swept away from here and taken to a foreign land with none of our memories intact but once it had been broken and we were brought back home, something has seemed to go wrong and its now working in reverse." She did her best to explain the complexity of the wrongs that had been done to them and the wrongs he now had to face. It was not fair this force unstoppable, the way it tore apart lives, but there was little she could do besides offer him a warm meal and a place to stay.
"I am from here, yes. the Queen is in fact my best friend and her husband I trust equally. They are good and fair people, I shall introduce you if you would like." Red mused with a smile, she loved Snow. They had gone through so much together had endured unbeatable odds and came up triumphant, Snow was one of the few who knew everything there was to know about her and still spoke with her civilly... without torches and pointed objects.
"We are always in need of new knights, and depending on what sorts of weapons you fancy, I may be able to help you. I am told I have some deadly accuracy with a bow." She winked at him playfully, she could wield a great many weapons with at least some form of skill, but she had taken to the bow like a proverbial duck to water. The young lad now made her curious and she was eager to know more.

.X. ----------------------------------- Jake could not help, but think about his home town. Everything he loved was there and now he will probably never see it again. Was he going to be stuck here for the rest of his life? What would his parents think when they noticed he was gone? This was not the first time the sixteen year had ran off during something important. Last time he did he was almost killed because of careless he was. It was only a matter of time before the Cartney family believes that Jake was somehow killed in battle or something. He knew this new world would take time to get use to, but it would never change the fact that he doesn’t belong. “So you’ve been through this twice already…? That’s horrible.” It was not every day that one actually saw the depressed version of Jake. He was usually the one that always seemed like he was happy and spent most of his time goofing off.
Was every class, training session, and all the years spent training he’d done for nothing? Jake couldn’t even pass the test to become a knight back home. It was not likely he could even pass the one here. The last thing his father told him was still eating at him even through Jake didn’t really let it show. Anyway, he had other things to worry about. “I’m probably not ready to meet the queen and king just yet.” Back in Umacia it was only a few people who actually got to meet the royal family, but with Jake’s father, being the head-knight, the teen would get his chance if only he had passed the test. It never came to mind that the ways in Aledon was different than the one he had grew up with.
The sixteen year old was starting to get a little happier than before. If he was going to be stuck here, why not make the best of it? There had to be a way back home and there was no way Jake would give up on that thought. “I’m great with a sword, kind of iffy with a bow, but with a spear…. I’m horrible with it. That was probably the reason to which I failed. That and the writing portion.” Jake was just happy that this time when leaving his parent’s manor that he actually brought his sword with him. Not only that, but he also brought his pact that had all his money in. That might come in handy later on. “What other weapons are you good with besides the bow?” Yet again the many questions of Jake were being asked. There was no other way to past the time. Plus, it made him forget about the cold weather and how cold he was.

Red let the guilt, that was not rightfully hers, gnaw away at her conscious. She hated watching people suffer, she wasn't the best of people and dark sins stained her past, but she hated watching anyone or anything suffering, she possessed too kind of a heart and it killed her. Red was not a weak woman by any means, she could take care of herself, could hold her own ground, had enhanced senses and surreal strength... especially for a woman, but for all of her attributes, she was utterly powerless to help these poor people and it was a feeling she hated. So helpless, so weak, she was powerless to them. She could offer only food and shelter and what little comfort she could give them. Her words reached her easily and despite the depression behind them, she smiled brightly, green eyes glittering with hope.
"Perhaps... but I am home again, which gives me hope that one day we will figure out how to return you to your home as well." She quipped quickly. She could not guarantee that any of them would ever be returned to their rightful realms, but she could hope, and be good and kind to them. She had already made allies with a vast majority of others, who said friendship could not span across space and time, hell one of them had become her lover. She shivered as she thought of Dorian Gray. Now was certainly not the time to think of such things. "Fair enough... the King and Queen are exceptionally kind and just people, if you ever wish to meet them, you have my word that you will not be harmed."
He seemed to fall quiet for a moment, contemplating his predicament and Red couldn't say she blamed him. It was a lot to take in for one day, when she had first regained her own memories, migraines had dragged her too her knees as she had been suddenly forced to remember the lover she had torn to pieces, the mother she had killed, the utter death and destruction she had caused. The guilt and the grief had left her empty and distant for several weeks, it had not been easy to bounce back from, in the end, the whole experience had made her stronger, but it wasn't an experience she would willingly sign up for ever again. In fact, if she never saw another realm as long as she lived, it would be all too soon.
"A sword huh? I could help you train there. I use short swords but I suppose two of mine versus one of yours would be fair. Just let me know if you ever want to spar! My weapon of choice is obviously the bow, my second is the short sword, I'm alright with daggers but nothing too terribly impressive and I'm utterly useless with a long weapon. Spear, lance, pike... it's quite pathetic to watch me." Her laughter was easy and carefree. She rarely lied and she saw no reason to start now, besides... perhaps a distraction would take his mind off of his troubles. If she could distract him for only a moment she saw it to be worth it.

.X. ----------------------------------- Back home, Jake was one of the best swordsmen out there. Even though he was not the strongest kid around, he did send most of his time training to get better. He was often bullied since he was so short, but that didn’t stop him. The sixteen year old just did whatever he could become a knight only to fail. That was going to take time to get over. “I’ve got the sword down perfectly fine. I just need a ton more training in the bow, spear and probably the lance... “ He yet did not even mention that he had magic. Jake was scared to use it unless he was in a situation where he absolutely use it. By the looks of it, he would have to use his magic in this world more often than usually. His parent’s tried just about everything, so Jake would be able to control his powers, yet nothing work. Jake wanted to get rid of them altogether, but he doubted there was a way to do so.
Once again, the sixteen year old was starting to think about his hometown. Just about everything he thought about brought him back to thinking about his family. Jake wanted to go back there more than anything, but it seems that was not going to be happening any time soon. “How long does it take to get used to being here?” It was probably a stupid question, but he couldn’t help it. It seemed that the teen would never get used to being in Aledon. Maybe if he made a couple of friends around his age, it wouldn’t be so bad. Jake could be very annoying and loud at times, but overall he was a great friend to depend on.
The teen got quite again. He had much on his mind that was eating at him. As far as he could tell, this world and some of its people were not all that bad, but he knew there had to be some he’s best watch out for. Back in Umacia there was a few people that you did not want any part of; there was the typical bully here and there, but the worse had to be Nymeria the one who killed for fun. Just about everyone was afraid of her and did whatever they could not to piss her off either. “Is there anyone here that I shouldn’t piss off or get mixed up with?” Jake asked. That information was needed. He needed to protect himself if needed. He always did find himself in some sort of trouble.

Red had learned to survive mostly with her enhanced senses, speed, endurance, strength... No mortal could outrun her, and very few stood a chance against her in a brawl. She cheated of course, drawing strength upon the wolf, but she was an incredibly valuable assets to have in battle with or without her wolf form. She rarely showed anyone the damage she had the potential to cause, not even her lover, and he tempted her far too often. He didn't seem to realize that she could kill him without trying. She never would, but it would be so easy...too easy to break him. She shook the thoughts from her head, such morbidity was not for her, and focused instead on her young companion.
"I'm afraid I won't be much use with a spear, I much prefer close combat, and I haven't done a great deal of fighting with ranged weaponry, save for a bow. I will be more than happy to help you there if you would like, it's so rare that someone wishes to learn the art f a bow." Red could crack a rib cage in half with naught but her fist, when she choose to unleash her strength, Red could turn quite terrifying. She didn't like hurting people but when she had too or when they threatened a dear friend, she offered no mercy. She could be lethal when she choose to be.
"This land is...bizarre, and a great deal different than most, at least from what I've gathered. Our people thrive on magic, almost everything and everyone you meet is tangled up in it in some way, shape, or form. We have ogres, orcs, trolls, giants...and a great deal of many things some good , some not, that most have never seen. I imagine it would take some getting used to. I have been a part of it all my life so it's a bit hard for me to say... but if you need anything. Food, shelter, or whatever else you can always come see me." She smiled reassuringly back at him. Red was kind, it was the wolf who demanded violence of her, but she had long come to term that her battle for control would be lifelong.
"A man named Rumplestiltskin... avoid making deals with him if all possible. It never turns out well, and two women... one named Regina and the other Cora. Both will manipulate you until you have nothing left. Wicked and nasty, steer clear of both if you can." Despite his young age, Red could not bring herself to lie and tell him falsities, this world, like many other, was not all kittens and rainbows, and she would be doing him no favors to make him think as such.

.X. ----------------------------------- Jake doubted that he would ever get to used to being Aledon. As far as he could tell, everything was going to be different than the life he had growing up. He had enough trouble trying to fit in with everyone else back in his world, so why was this world going to be any different. At least here the sixteen year old didn’t have any responsibilities to deal with, and didn’t have to worry about people trying kill him. Once again the not so talkative Jake resurfaced; the kid was still having trouble fully grasping the given situation he was in. One was actually lucky to see this side of him. He was usually a playful and kind kid, who didn’t let many things bother him. He just had way too many things swarming in his head all at once. If magic was the key to survive in this world, then surely Jake was screwed. He was scared of his abilities and wish more than anything he didn’t have them. His magic already caused so much damage that it scarred the sixteen year old to never use them unless he absolutely had to. It had been a while since the last time he even used his magic. He didn’t really have to. The kid relayed more on his swordsmen skills more than everything. But, it was best for now that he didn’t say a thing about the magic abilities he had for the moment.
It had to be at least four minutes or so that the sixteen year old was in deep thought, which never a good thing especially for someone like Jake. But who could blame him? He had been through a lot for the past days only to be thrown into a new life away from his family and friends. “Thanks for everything. I probably would have died without your help.” The teen fell quite yet again, unsure of what to say. Random questions usually popped in his head whenever he had met someone new, but this go around was different from the others. Besides, he would always have his partner-in-crime twin with him.
On the somewhat brightside, the young man was starting to get to the cold or that is what he thought at least. Then again, Jake was not the smartest person around. He could not really feel much of anything anymore. Maybe it was the best time to use his fire magic to somewhat warm himself, but he was too frightened to do so. It wouldn’t be very long to reach the town, right? Or at least he hoped so anyway.

The boy seemed to become lost in his own musings once again and Red let him be. When they had all been taken to earth, their memories had been swiped clean. Not a memory, not a home, not even a name. They had been trapped, permanently etched in time or so it seemed. For twenty-five years they had remained in limbo, they would have been there longer had it not been for Emma, Their plan had worked and Emma had broken their curse. Ruby had mixed feelings about the curse, on one hand she had felt empty, devoid with no memories, no family, nothing. She had been a completely new person and for the most part she had hated it... but then again, her past was littered, or so it seemed, with one tragedy after another. She had killed her lover, her mother and the village... she shuddered softly. She didn't want to remember them. She didn't want to remember their fingers or their weapons. That was best left untouched.
She found it funny how all the miscreants of other worlds seemed to stumble upon her. Sure she was outspoken, wild, a bit crazy at times and seemed to draw people in like moths to a light but she wasn't always the best at comfort... nor was she the best with kids. Kids made her nervous, uneasy. They were so brittle, so fragile and her strength even in this human form was enough to pose a formidable force. She had well proven that with a maggot named Quincy she wished she would have done so much more to him than just divest him of his arm... but alas such violent thoughts had no home here or now. He was not but a rotting corpse at this point she should let her vengeance be sated.
"You need not thank me. I was happy to help." She smiled back at him and her mare nudged her shoulder, she scowled and shoved the horses head away. They fell into a companionable silence as they reached Aledon. The grass turned to dirt roads and she maneuvered them out of habit. She pointed out food shops, blacksmiths, other places she thought he might need to know, but sooner than not they had arrived at her Inn and she pulled the horse to a stop, letting him slide from its back before tying her up and hefting the deer carcass out of the small cart.
"Come on inside. You are welcome to stay as long as you need, I'll get you a room as soon as I get this thing in the back." Her Inn was deserted, the cafe portion of her Inn would not open for a few hours still.

.X. ----------------------------------- Jake took a moment to look around before actually going inside. If he wasn’t so cold right now, he would have probably helped Ruby out. The inn looked like it was a nice place to stay although he was just happy to get out of the cold and finally warm up. If he was going to be staying here, the kid defiantly needed some new clothes that would keep him warm in the current weather. The village seemed rather big and easy to get lost in especially for someone like the sixteen year old. He usually found some way or another of getting himself lost whether it be somewhere he was familiar with or not. Which brought up another point, where was everyone? Then again, Jake could only guess that it was still pretty early in the morning here unlike in his world it was dead night when he left his family’s manor. He was still having problems getting his head around the situation he was in. If was going to have to live here, what was he going to do? He never worked a day in his life. The only thing that he had to do was go to his multiply classed and training sessions. The only real talent he had was with a sword and being able to trip over almost everything and anything.
The kid at this point was starting to feel a bit tired and hungry. After all, he had been through a lot in the past day. He did have to admit to himself things could have gone a lot worse than the way they did. Everything happens for a reason. That was something his mother taught him ever since he was baby, so there had to be a reason to why he was here in the first place. Besides, here Jake was able to make a new and somewhat better life here even if he would miss his family. On the plus side, he didn’t have to worry about the enemies he had back in his world, trying to kill him.
It was not every day that someone actually got the chance to see this side of Jake. He was usually would never shut up, and would do anything to help out anyone even if he didn’t know them. It would be probably sometime before the normal Jake would show. He had a lot of things on his mind that were eating away at him. He was still had no idea of what to say or even do at this point in time. He just hoped something would happen to break the awkward silence.

The deer weighed little to nothing to her. She didn't even think twice about pulling the thing up and over her shoulder. She did things on her own all the time, she had never had help or a strong and sturdy soldier to do her work, even when she was little, she and Granny had lived in a broke town and she had learned very quickly to get tough or die, of course, lifting a deer carcass was mainly thanks to her unnatural strength, but regardless... She strode across the familiar room with purpose, vanishing into the basement, the coldest area in the house. Her patrons would be happy now that she could put venison back on the menu. She swiped her hands on the hunting garb she wore and quickly ascended back to the stairs, the kid was still waiting for her after all.
She smiled as she entered the cafe, she motioned for him to follow her over to the bar. It was an old countertop, the wood had carvings ranging from drunken doodles to initials to hearts, wet circles where mugs had slammed against the abused wood, a few blood stains from various bar fights... she had tried to replace it once and her patrons had been furious with her. Told her she couldn't do such a horrendous thing until this one literally fell apart. Reluctantly... she had put it back. She gestured towards one of many stools and vanished behind the counter, reappearing a moment later with some water. With a gentle smile she slid the glass to him. She felt guilty for what the curse had done to him.
"Drink up, there's plenty more where that came from. Are you hungry? I've still got some moose and now obviously some venison. I've got eggs too if you would like." She had no idea how long the poor boy had been freezing in the snow but by the way he was still bundled in her own cloak, she would say quite some time. Poor thing... separated from your family, friends, everything familiar too her, at least Regina's curse had had the decency to take away their memory. It wasn't so bad when you had no memories to go by. This kid, along with everyone else did not possess such a luxury and she couldn't even begin to imagine how tough that must have been on them. Dorian... seemed to be the only creature whom had adapted with ease, but she best not think of him.
"Tell me a bit about yourself. Friends... family... lovers.... what was your world like?" He didn't have to tell her anything if he didn't want too but perhaps having someone he could talk too if her world got overwhelming for him might help him out a bit. He was just a boy.

.X. ----------------------------------- The sixteen year old stretched, yawning at the same time. He did not know why he was so tired all of the sudden. He just did his best to ignore it for now anyway. He usually was not normally up and about at this hour. Jake made his way over to the bar almost tripping over his own feet once or twice, but somehow managed to catch himself before actually hitting the floor. He took a sit, trying his best to act like he didn’t just almost tripped. “More like starving…” His stomach continued to grumble. It had of been lunch time since he last ate although that was more of a snack due to his younger sister fussing over how her older brothers wouldn’t play with her. And of course she would not stop until she got her way, which meant the twins were forced to do whatever she wanted until she got bored of it. “Can I have some of the moose?” Jake was starting to show his true colors, he needed something to get his mind off of his current situation. He understood that he would to start a new life here despite the fact that back home everything he ever did was already chosen for him by his parents and the king. He never got a chance to figure out for himself what he wanted in life. He had to follow the orders given to him by the adults in his life. At least here in Aledon he would be able to choose what he wants for himself even though it would probably be a painful life without his family and friends.
When Ruby asked him of his world, Jake once again fell quiet. How could he explain everything he tried his best to forget? Everything he loved was there. His beloved homeland of Umacia was going to be at war soon and he was stuck here. Not to mention his best friend the prince was to marry soon. He had promised to be there for him and the twins would travel with him even if that Jake failed to become a knight. The marriage was to stop the oncoming war with Mordinra that would bring peace between the two neighboring kingdoms. But that did not stop the fact that Bilkia’s ruling wanted war and the hardships that come with it. “My world is going to be at war soon… I was supposed to join my brothers along with my other three friends to stop it. The king stopped one of the wars by marrying his son to Mordinra’s princess. On the other side, the Kingdom of Bilkia won’t stop at nothing until its ruling gets what she wants…” It hurt Jake more than anything to know that he wasn’t going to take part in the journey he spent most of his life training for. It didn’t matter that he wasn’t a knight yet, he would have gotten to go anyway despite his father’s orders.
Jake chose to leave it at that for now. He knew he would not be able to speak of much about his life back home. It pained him that he was separated from his former life back in Umacia. He didn’t know how Aledon was like just yet. He could only hope that this curse would end soon, so he would be able to go home to be with his family once again.

Red watched the child closely, he wasn't young enough to make her nervous of her own strength, but he wasn't old enough for her to see him as anything other than a child. He was so young and it seemed he had already endured so much. She wondered how these other worlds could treat children so poorly, sure Red had learned to wield a sword early on, but she had been a werewolf, people were gunning for her head as soon as they discovered what she was. She had a reason to be nervous. She sighed softly and returned to him, watching closely as he seated himself at the bar. He looked tired, exhausted and Red couldn't say she blamed him. He had just been sucked from everything he knew and loved and dropped into a world full of monsters that were only supposed to exist in legend. He could have her room, she decided. She wasn't using it anymore, she lived with her Duke. Granny wouldn't mind, in fact she would probably get a kick out of teaching the kid a thing or two about a crossbow. Granny was deadly accurate with a bolt.
"Moose huh? One of my personal favorites, although elk probably charts the list for me." She winked at him with a smile and vanished, returning a second later with a rather generous slab of carcass. She started the fire and set about to cooking the meat, adding seasonings and herbs here and there all throughout the cooking process. She cooked almost absentmindedly, had been doing it for so long that it was second nature to her now. She asked her next question, attempting to at least keep the poor boy awake long enough to get some food down. He spoke shortly, told her a great deal in a few short lines and she could hear the pain in his voice. Whether from the impending war upon his lands or the fact that he would no longer be there to stop it, she knew not, probably a bit of both. She felt bad for the boy but there was not a great deal she could do for him other than offering him lodgings and a friend if he so desired one. She couldn't bring his family to him.
"I am sorry to hear it. I'm sorry your family will be fine. You seem like a brave warrior, I can only imagine that it tis a family trait." She smiled at him encouragingly, finishing up the meat and adding the final touches before sliding the pewter plate towards him. Perhaps at least with something warm in his belly he would feel a bit better. She knew he must be hurting. She churned her brain for anything she might be able to speak of him with. The dangers of this world perhaps? Something at least to distract him. "I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this world is no walk in the park either. We have horrible beasts that roam outside the city walls, trolls, ogres, orcs, goblins... some as tall as the castle and others that wouldn't reach your kneecaps. On occasion we even get a dragon or two. If you venture out alone, never let your guard down." It was probably the best piece of advice she could give him.
"Oh... and as for a home and lodgings..." She trailed off digging into the pouch that hung about her waist and tossing him a key. "That's the key to my room, third floor last door on the left, it's not much but its spacious and it's got a bed with some furnishings. I don't live here anymore so it's pretty much been vacant for the past month or so. It's all yours and I'll let my Granny know I gave it to you. Stay as long as you need." She did have a soft side, she just didn't show it too dreadfully much.

.X. ----------------------------------- Jake could barely keep himself awake for much longer. The drowsiness was starting to kick in. The kid wasn’t able to keep his eyes open. He didn’t know what came over him. Just a second ago he was not this tired. He knew this couldn’t be the worse time to fall asleep. For now, he decided to try his best to fight the feeling of passing out. He shook his head, trying to make some of the sleepiness to disappear. It didn’t work as much as he hoped it would. He would just have to deal with it for the time being. “Every male of the Cartney family bloodline must become a knight and fulfill his purpose.” Jake said, repeating his father’s words. He had been told the same thing over and over again growing up. And to this day, he didn’t fully understand it. No matter how many times he would ask his father why he would only just say those lines over again. “I’m not brave. Just a kid dealing with his family’s past,” He was quick to deny it. His brothers were the brave ones, not him. Jake was only merely the back up for the various training missions he had gotten after the war. Then again the kid did not get the chance to proof himself since the war two years ago. No one was willing to give the chance to. Despite his small size, the kid was not half bad at fighting or defending himself. He was just cursed with being a lot smaller in height and muscle than the other boys around his age.
So far, he was winning the battle of trying not to fall asleep. Even though it was only a matter of time before he passed out. The sixteen year old began to the meat given to him. He barely got the chance to actually taste it. The kid was too hungry and tired for his own good. “I can handle monsters just fine. My world’s crawling with them.” He said, finishing up his food. Truth be told, Jake actually had a lot of experience fighting off monsters. It was actually one of the jobs given to the trainees’ job to make sure that no monsters come near the capitol. Although the Cartney twins were given make harder tasks compared to the others that were training. The two could only guess it was because of their father’s rank, but they didn’t know for sure. Why did he have to keep being up the idea of his family? It only made him feel worse. This was the first time he had ever been away from his friends, family, and his kingdom.
Eventually, the sixteen year old couldn’t keep himself awake and alert anymore. He somehow managed to fall asleep sitting up. Another one of his talents; he was able to fall asleep just about anywhere in every weird position.
