Oswald didn't usually come into town. Let alone a big area like the training ground where people could overhear the things he planned to teach to one lucky boy. However, this was an important matter. After all, every hero needs someone to teach his skills.
He went over to the nearest bulletin board and posted a poster that said these words:
"Apprentice Wanted. Any skill level in magic preferred. Meet Mr. Oswald Rabbit at the back end of the training grounds for more information"

Why did he even bother coming here again? It wasn’t like anyone was willing to train him on the ways of being a knight. Not after not what happened the other day. He knew he needed a lot more training with the bow, spear, lance, and the list went on. Jake sighed. He wanted more than anything to just go back home to his family. He did not belong here in Aledon. There was nothing here for him. A couple of friends here and there, but nothing really a purpose to shoot for his dreams. No one to keep cheering the kid on, not family here to push on the right path. The only thing he could do was watch this world’s trainees hard at working, looking forward to their future job. Coming to the training grounds was a stupid idea on the sixteen year’s part. It only made feel even more depressed than before. ”It’s pointless to even try anymore. I’m going back to bed…” Jake said to himself, walking towards to exit. When he was about to leave the grounds he heard someone call his name. He turned around only to find out it was the two remaining group member of the teenagers bullying him. “What do you want? I will hurt you if you try anything again.” He had his hand on the hilt of his sword ready to fight back if it came to it.
“We aren’t going to do anything. Our new leader tells us not to for now anyway.” One of the two boys said. This made Jake even more confused than before. They were obviously plotting something, but what? It wasn’t like he did anything to anger them. “Well WE have to go back to training later, shorty.” With that the two left, but not after one of them landed a punch to the kids face. Jake just ignored it for now. This was not the time to be starting a fight. He would surely be out numbered again. The sixteen year old glared at the two as they ran back to their master.
At this point, the kid was more lost than before. How did they find a new leader that fast? And why was he after him? In this world, there was no reason to which why someone would try and kill him. For now at least he knew he had to keep his guard up. There was no telling what they had planned. Tagged: Oswald Notes: Sorry it took so long. School got in the way. Words: 412

Oswald had seen the depressed youth that was Jake and saw what had transpired between him and the two bullies. It reminded him of his days with Universal before ending up in Wasteland, seeing Jake as himself and the bullies as two Nickelodeon characters.
"Poor kid," he said to himself.
Suddenly, an idea popped into Oswald's mind. This kid could be a perfect camdidate to weild the brush. This slip of a youth was the perfect underdog. Just the kind of thing that heroes are born from.
"Pardon me," he said, approaching Jake, "I couldn't help but notice you seem depressed. Perhaps I may be of assistance. My name is Oswald Rabbit and I'm looking for someone that I can train to become a great hero. If you're interested, I'll meet you in the back of the grounds and explain everything."

The sixteen year old could not tell whether this guy was messing with him or not. Clearly, Jake was not the hero looking type. Him being small in height and muscle size compared to the only trainees. And the thing about him being depressed. Of course he was. After all, he was ripped from his world to end up in a land that no one cared for him. He missed his family more than anything. Besides, his beloved homeland was going to be a war soon and here Jake was unable to do anything to stop it. “If you’re looking for someone to train, why not pick any of them?” He said, pointing at the group of other teenagers training. If this was the Jake that had just arrived in Aledon, he would take Oswald’s offer up in a second. The kid had been through enough that nothing matter anymore. He didn’t see much of a reason to try. It wouldn’t matter if he did nothing here. There was no one to let down here if he failed. All together, the Jake thought sleeping was a much better thing to waste his time on. At least when he’s sleeping he would see his family again.
“I know you’re trying to help me, but I’m no hero. I’m just a kid who’s been through enough already.” The sixteen year old said. Even though he wanted to leave more than anything, there was something that didn’t feel right. Jake sighed. He should at least hear the guy out, right? Sometimes the sixteen year old was just too nice for his own good. He would rather be going back to the inn and spend the rest of the day sleeping. Tagged: Oswald Notes: Kind of short. Words: 287

Oswald was truly sad to see a young man with such a crushed spirit. He knew Jake had potential and he'd only known him for thirty seconds. Oswald knew that this young boy standing before him could someday become the human equivelant of his brother, Mickey. When Jake brought up the boys that bullied him, Oswald scoffed. "You honestly think those little punks would fit the bill?" he asked, sarcastically, "Young man, let me tell you about my brother." "My brother," Oswald started, creating a hologram of Mickey with his remote, "was just a tiny Toon mouse with filmsy little rubberhose arms and short legs that would make him about as tall as one of your legs." Oswald then created holograms of Mickey's battles with The Clocktower, The Mad Doctor, and The Blot back in his first visit to Wasteland. "But he defeated enimies ten times his size," he continued, "and saved an enitre world from total destruction." Oswald shut off the holograms and turned to Jake. "You know how he managed to overcome those obstacles?" he asked, "becuase he was brave, resourceful, and good of heart." Oswald created another hologram of Mickey. "When I see you," he concluded, "I see that mouse. Are you that brave mosue? Can you take down a deranged clocktower, a mad doctor, and two giant ink monsters?" Oswald shut off the hologram and looked Jake right in the eye. "Are you a hero?" he asked.

Jake let out a sigh. This guy was not going to give up, was up? The kid only wanted to back to the inn and sleep, but by the looks of it that wasn’t going to happen. “Look, I’m no hero. I have no reason to fight, so leave me alone, okay?” The normal kind, energetic sixteen year old was buried by someone who had lost all hope. Coming to the training grounds was stupid idea in the first place. It only made him feel worse, knowing that no one really cared for him here. His family was the only reason he kept on trying in his world. But, no he had no such thing on Aledon. “Besides, Aledon is at peace, so why even train someone in the first place?” Jake asked. He let out another sighing, waiting for an answer. This guy probably was not going to leave him alone until he agreed to being trained. The kid was fine with the idea however, there was no way in hell he would ever tell anyone of his magic. In Aledon, magic was the way of life here. Jake did not like his magic and wanted more than anything for it to be gone.
The sixteen year old looked back at the other teenagers getting train. He wanted to be one of them. Not an outsider who was looked down upon. “Why pick me anyway..?” Anyone could see the sadness in his eyes. He would do just about anything to get his old life back. He wanted to go home to Umacia where he had people to depend on. Tagged: Oswald Notes: Sorry. I was too sick to reply sooner! Words: 270

Oswald sighed. He'd never seen anyone Jake's age not get motivated by a speech about his brother. It's like this kid's spirit had been crushed beyond all repair. The saddness in Jake's eyes reminded Oswald of the day he lost Walt. "Ya wanna know why I picked you, huh?" he asked, rhetoricly, "Well, it's because I don't want anyone to have to go through life without anyone to rely on, like I did. You see, when I was a boy, I was seperated from my father." Oswald created a hologram of that horrible day and the many years of abuse at the hands of Charles Mintz. "No one deserves to go through life without someone to help them through it," he said, "That's why I picked you. You need someone to rely on. Besides, those kids are probably taken."
