• Transfiguration
o A master of deception, Cora has to ability to alter her appearance at will, giving her to ability to fully duplicate (including voice) any other individual. Like her teleportation magic, Cora can project this onto others as well. HAIR: Dark Brown
WEIGHT: 130 lbs
HEIGHT: 5’5
PLAY-BY: Barbara Hershey
GENERAL:
Despite her age, many would regard Cora as being an attractive female. More often than not, her slightly curly dark brown hair is kept up, using clips, pins, or occasionally even with magic. Her brown eyes have been said to peer into the very souls of those with whom she comes in contact with. Standing at a height of 5’5 and weighing an average weight of 130 pounds, Cora wouldn’t, on paper, be the most imposing of individuals. That said, she carries herself with a royal air, striking a sense of fear into those who come in contact with her. It has been said that her cold, smile could freeze the sun itself.
ATTIRE:
Appearance is of the utmost important to the Queen of Hearts. She wears extravagant dresses that reflect her status and power. Cora is quite the fan of jewelry, including the silver and ruby tiara that signifies her rank. From time to time, she has been known to dress in contemporary clothing when she feels it necessary, though even then her dress is conservative in nature.

• Her Heart - Upon realizing how obstructive ‘love’ could be, she removed her own heart, removing her ability to be held back by emotions and giving her unrestricted access to the magic within her. Conversely, the removal of her heart opened up a fatal weakness. Should anybody get their hands on her heart, they could use it to control or kill her.

PERSONALITY
In a very literal sense, Cora Mills can be described as ‘the mother of all evil.’ There are few things--if any--that she cares more about than raw power. She is a cruel, literally heartless woman who will do whatever it takes to see her plans come to fruition. She has killed many, and would continue to destroy countless lives in her pursuit of power and rank. She was shaped into this when she was younger, after realizing that no matter how ‘good’ she acted, she could never rise from poverty without attaining power. When given the choice between love or power, she ripped out her very heart, leaving her with a single passion: the pursuit of power.
Despite her blind ambition in the pursuit of power, Cora does have a single weak point: her daughter, Regina. Truly, Regina is considered to be the only person that Cora has any semblance of love for. Most of Cora’s plotting in her adult years have been with the goal of seeing her daughter crowned queen of the lands of the enchanted forest. Even after her daughter rebelled against her, banished her to a foreign land, and tried to assassinate her, the Queen of Hearts still has a soft spot for her one and only child. To this day, she will fight tooth and nail to see her daughter reign above Snow White and the so-called Charming family.

HISTORY:
Born the daughter of a lowly drunken miller in the kingdom once ruled by King Xavier, Cora was conditioned to live a life of hardship. In these years, Cora learned the importance of working hard to achieve one’s goals. It was on a fateful trip to the king’s palace when a visiting princess by the name of Eva tripped Cora, embarrassing her in front of the nobility that a fire was lit inside the miller’s daughter. From that moment on, she learned that she would never escape the troubled life she was living by playing nice--no, she would have to seize it by force. Attending a ball a short time later, she was accosted by the king for her presence due to her lowly status in the world. In the ensuing conflict, Cora claimed to have the ability to spin simple straw into valuable gold. Calling her bluff, the king arrested her and charged her to spin a room full of straw into gold. Do so, and she would marry the young prince Henry---failing to do so would mean her death. Locked in the king’s tower, Cora was distraught. Her running of her mouth had cost her life. She couldn’t spin straw into gold. She was absolutely hopeless.
And then hope arrived.
Sensing the plight and a potential deal, the Dark One himself, Rumplestilskin appeared and offered her a deal. He would spin the straw of the room into gold at the price of acquiring her first born child. She wanted more however---instead of being given a fish, she wanted to learn how to fish. Rumplestilskin agreed--and so began her forays into the world of dark magic. Wanting to make the king pay for the embarrassment he had caused her, Cora schemed to rip his still beating heart from his body and crush it before his very eyes. When pressed with the opportunity however, she ripped out somebody else’s heart--her own. Her heart, she figured, was a liability…and she couldn’t risk letting love get in the way of what she wanted. After bidding Rumplestilskin ado, and tricking him out of a deal they had agreed on, Cora would go on to marry Prince Henry, becoming a princess of the land and giving birth to her only child, Regina.
Alas, Cora’s path to becoming queen of the realm would not pan out the way she desired. Being fifth in line to the throne, there was little chance of Henry ascending, but Cora had some plans of her own to make it happen. One by one, those that were ahead of her husband in the line of succession began to die in various incidents. Before Princess Cora could become Queen Cora, however, a great bout of misfortune struck the kingdom. The kingdom had fallen under the cloud of a great financial debt over the years. Despite Cora’s attempts to use her spun gold to bail out the kingdom, a neighboring kingdom decided that instead of accepting gold, it wanted to expand its realm. Shortly after taking the land as his own, the king of that realm died, leaving his eldest son, a prince by the name of Leopold, his throne. At his side? The same woman who had tripped Cora all those years before. The now-Queen Eva.
So began a series of events that would lead Cora on a path to see her daughter Regina take the throne. Given the gold she was able to acquire, there was never any doubt that the Mills family would live a life of royalty--despite not having a title, but this wasn’t enough. Cora would have the last laugh. She would live in the castle again. She would win in the battle with Queen Eva. After eighteen years of this life, Cora decided on how she would win. Queen Eva would die, poisoned by the sorceress and former princess herself, and through a series of staged events, Regina would marry King Leopold. As these things came to pass, Cora caused great emotional pain to her daughter, ripping out and crushing the heart of the stable boy whom Regina had hoped to run off and marry. Cora would have her happy ending, no matter the cost.
A few days before Regina was to marry the king, she pleaded for escape and her plea was heard and answered by someone quite familiar with Cora and her ways: Rumplestilskin, the same person who had taught Cora how to use magic those many years before. He encouraged Regina to rebel against her mother, and gave her the tools to send her to a far off land. When Regina tried to continue pushing Regina, she finally pushed back, banishing Cora to a distant world.
It was in this world, Wonderland, that Cora finally achieved her goal of becoming queen. Using her mastery of magic, she usurped the throne of Wonderland and became the infamous Queen of Hearts. Using her dark magic and dictator-like control of its subjects, Cora ruled Wonderland in absolute power. Still, this wasn’t enough. She wanted to be back in her realm, she wanted to be able to rule alongside her daughter. Enter a pirate by the name of Hook.
In an attempt to subdue any chance of her own failure, the evil Queen Regina sent the pirate to Wonderland to kill her mother. When he failed in his mission, Cora used him to get back to the Enchanted Forest. Knowing that the dark curse being cast by her daughter would ultimately fail, she plotted to shield herself in a corner of the Enchanted Forest from the dark curse, protecting her from being whisked away to this Land Without Magic and losing her memory. Twenty-eight years later, with a simple kiss, the curse was broken and Cora’s quest to help her daughter began. It was short lived however, when just a few moments later, herself and her pirate companion were whisked away in a purple fog.

MEMBER TITLE: The Queen of Hearts
ANSWER: Oliver Kadett[/ul]
EXAMPLE:
(Recycled. Character: Justin Finch-Fletchly [Harry Potter])
It was one of those autumn days at Hogwarts. The twilight of summer had just passed as the dawn of the fall months began. The days were still accented with a slight heat, while the evenings brought a refreshing coolness that often left the bodies of first year students confused. The feeling was further more enhanced when the gentle winds blew across the great lake that separated the magical castle from the wizarding village beyond. Justin still recalled that magical night four years before when he was a first year, crossing that gigantic lake. It was there that he got one of his first glimpses of the power that magic held. Having grown up as a muggle child, it was still shocking at times when he caught glimpses of spells being cast, that's what separated him from the non muggleborn children of the school, he was still constantly amazed by the world around him. The lake still remained one of his favorite places. When the triwizard tournament had taken place the year before, he fell in love with the second task. He could have cared less about the dragon eggs, or the overgrown maze. The watery task was where Justin's heart had been. The Hufflepuff boy didn't like thinking back on the year before. It had been great up until the end..when Cedric Diggory, a Hufflepuff whom he had come to know and greatly admire returned from the final task dead...or, murdered, as the story went.
While Justin believed Harry Potter's story, and supported Dumbledore's opinion against that of the Ministry of Magic's, it was a terrifying thought that he-who-must-not-be-named had returned. True, Justin had not been around during his first reign, but the stories...oh, the stories. If it were true, he knew that his days in the magical world were numbered. Were Voldemort to ever return to the same strength he once had, it would not be safe for a muggleborn like Justin to have anything to do with magic. It was a thought which troubled him greatly as of late. Perhaps it had to do with domination the Slytherins had begun demonstrating since the beginning of the year? Perhaps it was the stress of the impending OWL examinations manifesting itself in another form? Or maybe it was just a rational fear that haunted every muggleborn child.
Justin refused to ponder upon the matter any longer. The boy had come to the lake for a specific reason this evening. He intended to draw an accurate replica of the lake to send home to his father. As a muggle, Mr. Finch would have no idea what any of the lands around him would look like were it not for the drawings and paintings Justin sent to him periodically throughout the year. Oh, how he wished he could bring his parents to the school grounds one day. Alas, the muggle repelling charms would prevent them from seeing anything but the ruins of a decrepit building. As Justin approached the shore of the beach, he quickly found his usual spot, a solid rock ledge that jutted out a few feet above the water, somewhat akin to a dock. Were someone dressed appropriately, this would make a fine diving location, as he had found out in his third year. Those times were fun, but they were in the past for now. He had much to do in the fifth year, and would have little time for recreation as he'd had in past year. This year, he would have to focus more on his studies than ever before, and of course, the occasional drawing.
Justin sat down on the edge of the rock slowly, so as not to lose his balance. He took the pad of drawing paper and his pencils out carefully, trying to find the best scene to focus on. The sunset was perfect above the lake, yet it still left something to be desired. The Hufflepuff needed some form of inspiration. The quiet sounds of nature were starting to get even more quiet. The most that could be heard was the sound of the crashing waves below him, and it seemed as even they were fading. Though the splendid rays of sun struck the water's surface perfectly, they would not form the perfect picture. He needed someone, someone whom he could use as a focal point, using the lake as a backdrop perhaps. He should have asked Hannah Abbott or Susan Bones to come along with him. Even Ernie McMillan would have made a good 'model' of sorts. Alas, he left the common room so abruptly after classes that he couldn't recall if he had told anyone where he was going or not. Maybe luck would shine on him, just as the sun was shining on the lake. Perhaps some gorgeous individual would show up, wanting a portrait drawn of him or her. That seemed unlikely, but Justin could wish.
