The church here in Aldeon was not dissimilar to the one back in Georgetown, Dana Scully thought as she stood outside the great wooden doors. A little bigger, perhaps. Okay, well a whole lot bigger, but the architecture was essentially the same - stained glass windows; pointed spires on the roof; constructed of a nondescript grey stone.
She took a deep breath, her fingers going up to twist the gold crucifix at her collarbone. She had lost her faith really even before coming to this place, but now she wasn't even sure if her faith existed here. She was not up to date on her Dark Age history; had Christianity been introduced yet, or were they still pagan? Or, hell, were they something completely unheard of? She was only making a vague guess when it came to the time period of the kingdom, trying to draw parallels between it and her world.
She had stopped thinking of Aldeon as the 'false' world and Earth as the 'real' world. They were as real as each other; she had pricked herself on a needle the other day, and felt that as certainly as she would feel pain on Earth. It had drawn blood, and the tiny (albeit deep) hole was still present on her thumb.
Anyway. No time like the present. Pushing the doors open, she stepped inside, her shoes echoing as she walked down the aisle. There were many pews, probably enough to hold the entire population of the city and then some. A few people were scattered therein; praying with their heads bent, staring off into space or flicking through their holy books.
Dana Scully had come here for a reason, though. Her blue eyes searched out the flickering of the tiny candles that one might light for those they were thinking of and praying for. She wanted to light one for Missy - as she had at home - and her mother, who she missed dearly. And one for herself and Mulder, though he didn't really need it.
She had considered asking him along for this little excursion, but she knew what he outwardly thought of religion in general. He might be able to appreciate the building, but that was about it. She had written him a note anyway, and left it on the table of their shared home - if he came back early, he would hopefully see it and not worry about where she was on her one day off.
Biting her lip, she hovered in the aisle, suddenly struck by uncertainty. Did she have any right to intrude here? Perhaps she should just buy a couple of candles from one of the many 'magic' shops, light them at home and call it a day.

Sydney walked around, as she was there for two weeks, also she had on her own clothes as she managed to check it, as soon as she left the two she first met, after arriving. After she did that she stayed with her regular clothes and no dresses, as she refused to wear dresses. Far from it, Sydney refused to stay steal so she run off from where she was staying, true she was a lady but she didn't really care so. Anyway, she stopped as she saw a church not to far away. Sydney looked around and sighed, as she looked back at it. She stared at it for a bit, then she walked over as she opened the door and picked in side, and after that she walked in. Sydney was curious about the place mostly, but also thought to start having faith in god, maybe it was time. Besides she was stuck here for a while, so she had to get used to it, that was one reason and two, after all she went through in her life, with the relic hunting adventures and what not, she figured that maybe she was wrong and god did exist. Perhaps her being stuck there, was Sydney's punishment for not believing in god. She had no idea but figured that might as well she will give it a try. Sydney knew that she had nothing to lose anyway, so she decided to do so,also it was rather weird. Two weeks were a long time, not to believe in anything. Also Sydney had her crossbow, that her ex gave her and planned to keep it no matter what. Anyway, as she walked in she looked around. Sydney saw the flickering candles not to far a way, and she saw people pray. She signed as she considered to light a candle to her mother, who died when she was younger, as well as to her friends, well Nigel, Claudia and two others as well as to herself, but wasn't sure. As Sydney considered that she looked around, then stopped as she saw a young woman not to far away, lost in thoughts. Sydney thought about it for a few minutes, then she walked over to her. The young woman seemed to debate on the ame thing that Sydney did. She sighed as she moved over to the young woman, without making any noise. "Excuse me, are you alright?" Sydney asked in a whisper, so she won't interrupt the ones that were praying. As she wasn't like that, and had no reason to be, as she respected people and now wasn't any different. Also, the only thing she refused to consider, was the style of clothes Aldeon had. Sydney loved her own style and that was it. Which there was no way she was going to change. True, Sydney did wear dresses on special occasions but only if it was mandatory and she needed to get in, among other reasons. Also she wasn't keen on it, but other than that she never wore dresses and wasn't about to start now. Anyway, after she walked over and asked the question , Sydney just stood there as she waited for a reply. Here and there, she looked around at the flickering candles and the people that were praying, as she sighed to it. "You are not sure if you wanna light a candle and pray or not too, huh?" Sydney asked after a bit of silence. "When you are not used to something, no matter what it is, it will always be difficult to decide on it" she added, and sighed once more. Sydney then smiled at her. "I am Sydney Fox, by the way and you are?" she said, as she extended her hand to shake the other woman's hand. Sydney had her long black hair loose, as she liked it, and didn't let anyone touch them. Yeah true, being a lady she had maidens, because her title in this place was a lady, not that she knew how or why, but that was besides the point, the point was that even maidens weren't allowed to help her change clothes or brush her hair. Also Sydney let her cook to cook food for her and made her something to drink, while she let the maidens do other things but still. Anyhow, she looked around once more, then back at the young woman as she still smiled at her. "You aren't from around here either, are you?" Sydney asked her over sudden. "If so, then maybe we could help each other out! What do you think? I am only two weeks here, I am from the future myself, and if I am not wrong then so are you" she added. Sydney looked down, then back at the other woman. She wished to have Nigel and Claudia with her, but she got used to not having them with her. For now, at least yet she kept hoping. If Sydney was stuck there, then might as well she had someone she knew with her. She didn't mind making new friends of course, but that didn't change the fact that she wanted the others there with her too.
