”BLOODY HELL! Gold shouted at no one… This wasn’t how it was suppose to turn out. The spell was only suppose to bring magic back to Storybrook, not send them back home or something close to home. Maybe he was rustier then he had thought but that couldn’t be right… he had been able to use magic for sometime before the curse was broken. Something hadn’t gone right but he was sure the queen was behind it. Why was it becoming so hard to do something simple as find his son… it was like something was keeping him from finding the one thing that meant more to him in the world, including Belle but he would never admit that to himself.
It had been a week since he had been back in this world; he had his pawn shop up and going again. Managed to gather everything he had pretty much back in Storybrook aside from a personal items and a few key ones he could use against others. However in time that would change, he would find a way to get his hands upon those kind objects…
Gold walked past the Church muttering something about nuns…oh how he hated them. He needed to find Belle; he knew she had to be here too. After all, he couldn’t lose here again. He headed towards the one building he knew where he would mostly find her… The library or what passed for one here. Gold’s leg was bothering him more than usual today and he was doing the best to hide that fact and avoid walking with more of a limp than normal.
After reaching the library, he pushed open one of the wooden doors and made his way to the main area of the library. It looked like someone had been here cleaning… He only hoped it was Belle… he only got her back and to lose her again so soon, would tear him apart. ”Hello?” He called out as he stood in his place, leaning against his cane a bit for support.

Belle wasn’t exactly sure if she liked this new world or not. Well, actually she didn’t like it at all. Mainly because of the fact that she had no idea where Rumplestiltskin was. She managed to find him before being sent here. She confessed that she loved him and he said the words too. Belle had just found him again after being locked up for so long, but now was once lost again. She had asked almost everyone in the town, but so far nothing had managed to keep up. Frankly, Belle didn’t know how long she was going to be stuck here. The very thought of that kind of made her a bit sad. There was only one other thing that made her happy again—Books.
She wandered around the town until she found it. What looked like a library. Thing was, it looked old and abandoned. Slowly, Belle pushed the wooden door open and stepped inside. She coughed slightly, at the fact that so much dust was accumulated in the place. “Hello? Anyone here?” Belle asked, but there was no answer. Slowly she made her way towards the desk, looking to see if anyone actually lived here. She brushed some of the dust off with a frown looking at different books and papers when a note stood out to her:
For Belle
She stared at the paper, wondering if perhaps there was just another Belle somewhere that this was for. But where would there be another Belle would just so happened to like books? Slowly she picked up the envelope and after a few minutes of staring at it, she finally opened it to read what was inside.
Follow your dreams, but most importantly follow your heart. ~D
She had no clue who this mysterious ‘D’ was, but inside was a key to the place. She smiled, and looked around at her new home. It was kind of a mess. It took her a good three days just to get most of the dust out. Now she was busy trying to figure out what books were there by cataloguing them. She was still in her hospital gown and the jacket, seeing as she hadn’t been able to afford food let along new clothes. Yet, she still had her books. Belle was so immersed in them that she failed to realize the person calling out was exactly the person she was looking for. “I’m sorry, we are closed at the moment. I hope to get this place up and runn—“ Belle cut herself off, almost falling back when she saw who it was. “Rumple?”

Gold was not happy with how things turned out; he was rather pissed at himself for what happened. All that was suppose to happen was the return of magic so he could find a way to get to his son. None of this would have been happening if not for the Queen and that stupid pirate… If had just been given the magic bean instead of being tricked, he could have found his son without dragging anyone into this. The only person he felt regret for all this happening was Belle… He was sorry she got dragged into this middle of this. At first when he first claimed her as his in a trade, he wasn’t sorry but now that he found his true love, he was.
He turned around facing the table that he had been leaning against, his eyes glancing over a very old history book from this century. After picking it, he blew some of the dust off the cover, admiring it. The attention to the detail on the front cover design was amazing. A little bit of gold to accent the design of a castle…but before he got too wrapped up in the book he heard that familiar voice. Inside he smiled widely even though his expression didn’t change on the outside.
”Yes, dearie.” Gold said in a slightly softer voice that was reserved just for Belle. His brown eyes looked her over; she was a sight for sore eyes. He had not been sleeping that much since he found himself in here. After a few days of trying to figure out how to get back he gave up and went about setting up the trap…shop that he would call his own. Then he made sure he had a house, a place to live and escape the shop. Sadly, he still been wearing the same suit he found himself here in. Not really in the mood to go shopping for clothes that made him blend in with this century yet.
After taking a deep breath, he moved over to Belle still favoring his leg a bit. Glad he had the cane to be walking with. He slowly reached up and tried to brush his fingers along her cheek. ”How are you holding up?” He was so glad she was here and safe.

It couldn’t of been him. She had to be having another one of her nightmares. No one in the city knew where he was, or they simple wouldn’t tell her. The people that came from the Enchanted Lands or even from Storybrooke had a habit of hating him for whatever reason. It was perhaps because that they simply did not see him as she did. He had kindness and love in his heart. You just had to dig down deep to get to it. That was why she loved him, because she believed that she could make the good in him come out. And he loved her too. Yet why was he in so many of her nightmares?
Was she having one of those now? Certainly, it didn’t feel like she was asleep. Yet here he was, standing in the shop. That would have made sense. She was given this shop. It was a lovely book shop. There was a lot of lovely books. It was just a bit dusty and run down, but it will be up and running in no time. In the back of the shop was a small room that had a bed made of a hay mattress a water basin, and a small kitchen. She still had no food or clothing, or really any possessions. Yet at the back of the shop was the back of the bakery. Sometimes they throw away old pastries or bread that had been partially burnt. She promised the baker she would teach her son to read and she could have those throw away items. It wasn’t a good life, but it was the right thing to do.
Yet was Mr. Gold the one that had brought her here, set up this shop? No, his name didn’t start with the letter D. Then again, he had many Aliases. The way he came in though meant he was searching for her. If he did give her this place, this would have been the first place he looked. So then, who gave her the library? She guessed it would just have to remain a mystery. At the moment, Belle was trying very hard not to burst into tears and run into his arms. “It really is you..” The saltiness stung her eyes. “I thought that I was going to be stuck here in this land by myself. That I lost you again. But here you are.. You are real.” Belle grinned.
He had asked her how she was holding up. Her skin tingled as he touched her cheek. It was then that she couldn’t hold herself back. Even though Belle knew his leg was hurting, she moved directly towards him, her head laying against his chest. It was here that she felt happy. It was here that she felt at home. She didn’t care about not having food or clothes, or a warm fire. As long as she was with him, none of it mattered. “I am perfect now that you are here. The shop is a bit… messy. I didn’t really have anything when I came here..” She pulled her jacket to her body to warm herself. It was that moment she was truly happy.

It was most likely no one was telling her where he was and the same had gone for him. It was the second time she had gone missing, the second time no one wanted to help him find her. The first time around, he had to ask Emma for her help. Gold still wasn’t sure why he had fallen for her or why she had fallen for him but he stopped asking himself that question long ago. Aside from his son, she was all that mattered to him the most…well not including his power.
No one saw him like she did. No one knew that he could be the good guy, that he wasn’t the devil… Ever since what happened to his wife, he promised not to let anyone close to him again like that but she found away and he wasn’t sure how it happened. But he did whatever he could to give her the world that he felt she should have. His greatest fear aside from losing his powers was losing her, those were the kind of nightmares that kept him awake.
Ever since he found himself back in this place away from her, he had not slept well. Had done whatever he could to keep his mind from wondering into the area that he had lost her for good again. As he looked around the shop, he wondered how Belle came into such thing. He no longer owns anything aside from his shop and home…this wasn’t storybroke anymore, the city wasn’t his…
Gold could tell how hard she was trying not to cry and it showed softness in his eyes…the softness that she could only bring out in him. ”The one and only, dearie.” He smiled at her, knowing that was a bad joke on his part. But there was only one of him and no one else like what he was. ”I thought the same of you but here we are now. So no need to fear anymore.” He could only hope that this was the last time they went through something like this. Gold didn’t want to lose her to anything or for any reason. She was his life whether or not he could admit that.
After she moved to him and brought her head down on to his chest, he wrapped his arms around her, holding her close to him. Not wanting to let go anytime soon, he didn’t want this to end. She felt so good in his arms, so warm and soft. This was perfect… His one hand moved up to run through her long dark hair as he held her. ”We can work on getting your shop up and going. After all, I had my own shop back in Storybrook. I’m sorry that I wasn’t there for you…” It wasn’t often that he said he was sorry for anything…something like that was beyond rare but when it came to her… it was another story. She was his happiness...

Belle didn’t like the fact that she had been looking for him and he just managed to appear when she gave up hope. She had tried everything. Almost day, she combed the market and the buildings within Aldeon asking if they have seen a man named Mr. Gold or Rumplestiltskin. One after the other, the majority of them looked clueless saying they have never heard of either one of those names. Of course, there was a person time to time that got angry at her for bringing the names up. One man even beat her for mentioning his name. Apparently people didn’t like him. That was fine with her. Because she loved him. She could see him like no one else could, and that was all that mattered.
She didn’t care for his magic. She didn’t care for a lot of things. Yet, Belle gladly would turn down her life with her father and old fiancé in the castle to be Rumple’s servant again. It was there that she discovered his soft side. He wasn’t evil, he was just misunderstood. So many bad things happened to him in his life, and Belle wanted to make up each and every one of those. She wanted to replace them with happy memories. She wanted to replace them with her. That was if he would have her.
Apparently this was a last resort for Mr. Gold to look for her. How did he know he would find her in a book shop? True, he knew of her love for books. Yet, she now owned this place. She owned a shop of her own. She never had a shop or how to run one. Belle was going to learn though. Aldeon needed books, needed an education. Just as much as something to keep their minds off the fact that they were too trapped here. The fact that she didn’t know who had given it to her remained a mystery. If Rumple didn’t give it to her, then who did? Somethings were just going to have to remain unanswered for the time being.
Belle let out a small chuckle at his bad joke. It was just like this in his personality that Belle had come to love. To her, he wasn’t a magic dealing monster. He was just as soft and gentle with her. Now that the problems they faced were in the past, she didn’t want to part from him. True, she didn’t like the fact that he dabbled in magic, but she wasn’t going to leave him for that. She knew deep down inside she could change that about him, it would only take a bit of time. For him, Belle would give him forever. “Just please, Rumple. Don’t leave me again. Being locked up for so long, I was so full of regret for leaving that day. I want to spend every moment with you. Now it can be possible.”
Belle grinned when he wrapped his arms around her. She felt safe and protected there and didn’t want to move for anything. She felt the small tingles of her scalp as he ran his fingers through her hair. She liked being close to him. “No need to apologize. You didn’t know. Regina told you I was dead. I was so… angry that I couldn’t escape to tell you I was alive.” She choked, trying to not tear up as she moved to look at him in the eyes. “But now, I will never leave for anything. I promise you that. No matter what happens.”
