Ann screamed as the massive beasts flung her around like a rag doll. They hadn't stopped for any terrain, they crashed through trees, swam through lakes and rivers, trudged through the snow. They were terrifying and they had almost killed her blowing through the lake, she had been close to drowning when the troll had seemed to remember she was in his grasp. They picked up various animals as they went too, sheep, horses... all of these were to be added to the stew.
"Oh shut up will ya!" One of the trolls smashed her into one of the dying trees and the tree groaned, splitting down the middle and folding into two parts. Ann gasped, her cry of pain coming out little more than a chocked gasp as spot swam in her vision from the blow. Her whole body went numb, throbbing from the impact and the next thing she knew they were lost deep in this dismal place. Vaguely her mind supplied that this is how she would die, among these horrible creatures.
"I'm gonna suck the marrow from your bones sweet thing! It won't hurt ya too much! Y'all ready be dead! First we got to skin ya! Take out all your organs for our stew! Juicy is what you'll be!" They cackled their delight! Laughing at her pain. Ann stopped screaming, she didn't want to be thrown into another tree.
When they finally came to a stop she was tossed between the trolls like a trinket and while the largest, the one initially carrying her, poked around at starting a fire, one of the others pulled a giant black cauldron from a cave stashed a few feet away shrouded in mist. They poured the most foul liquid she had ever seen into the pot and cackled as the soup began to come to life.
'First the sheep! It takes them the longest to cook! Don't want to be eating rare sheep." She watched in horror as they pick up the crying animal and breaking it in half. The troll squeezed it until he was satisfied all of its organs and a decent amount of its bones had fallen into the soup. This time Ann couldn't stop the scream of terror. Was that what they were going to do to her? This time she was smashed against the ground and this time she was going to let the darkness claim her, if she was going to be snapped like a twig, she had no desire to see it... but as her vision darkened a figure appeared through the mists. It was massive, huge, and like someone had flipped a switch as the massive frame drew closer and she could see the gorgeous gold of his eyes, every memory came back to her.
A human sacrifice for a group of savages, performing her act, Kong laughing, Kong pushing her over, her getting angry, Kong leaving, her running away, him saving her from the pack of hungry V-rexes, her juggling for him and curling up safe within his arms, Jack stealing her away, Kong trying to reclaim her, Kong getting captured, the snow, the ice, laughing with him, smiling with him, the tower, watching him die, watching him fall... it couldn't be her Kong... it was impossible, he died... but those eyes... She felt life flood back through her veins, her eyes brightened, regaining that beautiful stormy blue color. She fought the darkness crawling along her vision and sat up to the best of her ability in the trolls hand. She sucked in the largest breath she could and with all the hope and love in her heart she screamed the name of the creature who had captured her heart with nothing more than a glance.
"Kong!"

Kong raced as fast as he could to get to her, and with the closer he got the more noises he could her. Some of them weren't him, they were something else. He didn't know what but he had a feeling it had to do with Ann. What was he or she or even they doing with her? He didn't have much time to be asking himself questions though. He was in a rush right now to get to her. The desert was huge but he had finally reached the end of it. It seemed as if he had just made it to a forest of some sort. Now this seemed like his kind of place, it was filled with trees and animals.
He looked around in there quietly trying not to make a sound as he had finally seen Ann. He was looking directly at her with his big golden eyes. He wanted her to know that everything would be alright. He wished he could tell her with words but unfortunately he doesn't have the vocal chords to talk any kind of Human language in that form. On the bright side, she could understand what he wanted to say to her just by looking in his eyes. It was really that easy, his eyes could tell all.
After a second of quietness, all that could be seen is King Kong leaping downward and into the scene. Kong wasted no time, he immediately gave a battle cry before pounding his chest and backhanding the smallest one toward a nearby tree. As one of the other ones came at him from behind he took his arms and swung both at him upward at him the same time at full force as if his arms were hammers. Kong was breathing heavily and had an angry look on his face. However, he began to worry about Ann. With her being near a battle he wanted her to be safe, and her being right there was no where near a safe spot. He quickly grabbed her with his left hand and sat her on a nearby branch but as he did so, one of the trolls smashed him in the lower back with a club.
Kong roared and wrapped his arm around it's head and squeezed it before taking his other head and pounding away with his fist. That didn't last long as one of the trolls who held a club that had spikes swung at Kung who tried to keep himself from being hit by using one arm to hold the end of the club as the troll tried to over power Kong but he couldn't. Kong was just too strong and also distracted which left him open as one of the trolls came straight at Kong from behind, making Kong turn around to flip over the troll only to get hit with the spiked club right in his side. Kong yelped and almost lost his balance. Kong who was weakened was struck once again, on the side thus making Kong lose his balance and fall to his stomach. One got on his back while the other one was laughing.
Kong turned over while the troll was on his back and then he smashed his fist down to the ground before finally getting up. Kong slung his body around until the troll went flying and then as the other one came up to him he bit the troll right in the neck. As the last one came at him as fast as he could, Kong reared back and smashed him in the face with his fist. Kong took the troll as he got up and picked him up and bent his back, breaking it.
Kong picked up a big stone and threw it toward one of the Trolls but it had missed. The troll that was flung knew it's fate so he knew to not jump right in. Kong hung there with his fists on the ground waiting. The troll eased it's way through the trees going around. The troll tapped on the tree loudly with a big tree branch. It was a way of calling the others. Kong heard where the sound was coming from and went toward it. Only when he got there, there were at least three more trolls waiting for him and the other one was no where to be found. Kong didn't see it coming but out of nowhere from the north east side, a spear was sent right into Kong's gut. He welped as he started to bleed in that area, but he had to keep fighting.
Kong pounded his chest as and roared as loud as he could before grabbing one of the trolls by it's head and slinging him into one of the other trolls before getting hit by another club but this time to his left leg. Kong took his arm and smashed downward onto one of the trolls that were getting up, knocking him right on the top of his head. The more he fought, the more appeared. He charged at the one in front of him and grabbed him by his face and started pushing forward as if he was trying to knock him backward but then one came up from behind him and reared a big tree branch under his leg to trip him, making him lose balance and fall on his back.
Kong's head turned and he looked at Ann up as she was in the tree to his right and knew that this battle had to be his. He would one of them hurt her, not one. He would take all the blood as long as she didn't have to shed any. They all took their clubs and started beating him, only two had spiked clubs. Kong fought his way up before sending a double clothesline toward two of them, knocking them both downward at the same time. Then Kong took one of their hands and viciously ripped it to the side, breaking his neck. He took the other one uppercut it as it was getting up. Just to ensure that it was dead, he opened it's mouth and broke it's jaw fiercely.
There seemed to have been no more, and Kong's body had been injured. Not only did he have blood on his side but he had blood coming out from his leg and a big spill of blood coming out of his stomach that had the spear inside of it. He rushed to make it to Ann before collapsing on the way there. The King had fell, but thankfully he wasn't dead. The injuries had taken it's toll on his body and the only thing he could do was hold his hand out reaching up to grab Ann but his hand dropped back down. He laid there motionless as if he was dead but he wasn't. His eyes were wide open, looking up at Ann as she sat on the branch of the tree. He promised he would protect her at all cost and that's exactly what he did. He loved her, he would do anything for her. The spear inside of him was extremely painful but he tried not to worry about that. Ann was his everything, and during this night, he just proved it.

Ann was hurting, too many times had she been smashed into trees, rocks, the ground, the trolls were vile, nasty creatures and Ann was about the size of a small twig in comparison. She was bruised, bloody and in pain but she focused on the massive gorilla, forced herself not to lose consciousness... and then he came careening through the trees, furious and angry, he smashed into the trolls without hesitation, she didn't know if he had heard her plea or not, but she believed in him. She believed in him with everything she was and it was all she could do not to whimper in relief.
The troll that was holding her squeezed, its anger and disbelief at the creature making its fists tighten. Ann tried to cry out but she could get no air in her lungs, the thing was going to kill her, her vision slowly swirled to black and just before she passed out, she was air born. She saw the troll spiraling through the air in a different direction trying to reach out and grab her, she had been its prize after all. That thought quickly left her head as she smashed against the dirt, the breath leaving her lungs in a sudden whoosh as pain exploded down one of her legs. She sat up, eyes widening at the rock that had wedged itself into her flesh, now oozing blood around the rock.
She grinded her teeth and pulled the stone loose, ripping off a piece of her dress and tying it around the wound. Her entire body was sore, everything hurt but she forced herself to stand, stumbling to her feet she watched Kong fight the hoard of trolls. She screamed at them, waving her arms, trying to gain their attention so he could have a window of opportunity to attack them, but they paid her no heed. Kong sent another troll careening off to the left and spotted her, lifting her up onto a low hanging branch and returning to the fight. She watched, helpless and afraid for his life as more seemingly came from nowhere, they pierced his abdomen, pounded his legs, beat his back but Kong never stopped, throwing them, smashing his arms into them.
"Stop! Please stop! Stop!" Ann screamed at the top of her lungs, memories of the Eifel tower flooding her head and how she had been just as useless, just as unable to help him. "Stop!" She screamed as loudly as she could, tears streaming from her eyes as they ripped him to pieces "Stop!"
Ann couldn't take it anymore, hanging down from the tree branch she dropped to the ground, rolling to a stop and scrambling up to her feet, just as Kong finished off the last of the trolls. He turned back to see her, panic momentarily shining in those too familiar eyes before they landed on and her fell, the pike still jutting from his abdomen. He whimpered, a low keening whine that made her heart break and extended his arm towards her unfurling his fingers. This was her Kong. She didn't know how he was here or why, but she thanked whoever was listening that they had brought him back to her.
Tears streamed from her eyes and she raced past his hand all together, skidding to a halt and almost falling as her injured leg threatened to give out. She reached out to him, caressing his face with the tips of her fingers and then the palm of her hand.
"You're alive... you're alive... my Kong...." Her voice was unsteady and breathless but she spoke with such confidence, such relief, such love that it sounded much stronger than she felt. She touched a hand to his chest, trying not to cry any harder than she already was. "Beautiful."
She spoke no more words, they were not needed, not now. She needed to fix him the best that she could. She released him, bending down to pull as much of her dress away from her as she could. She raced to any of the injuries she could reach, starting with the spear. He couldn't see her from this angle, but she had to pull it out. She pressed her hand a few feet away a soft caressing motion, an apology, before using all the strength she had to pull the spear free. She took the wadded up portions of her dress and pressed them into the wound, bent down and packed the edges with snow. The cold would stop him from loosing anymore blood.
She worked long, darting from one side of his body to the next, packing each and every wound he had with snow, trying to be as gentle as she possibly could, hopefully the injuries would start to go home, she had no pain killers, nor antibiotics, all she could do was pray. Finally she patched him up as best as she could, she couldn't carry him anywhere and she could get him no medical aid.
She moved back around to his front, she had stopped her tears, so focused had she been on her task, but as those golden eyes met hers she almost started again. They would always find her. A smile lit up her face, a smile reserved only for him and with her eyes alone she conveyed how happy she was, how excited she was to be with him once again. You found me.
Slowly, as to not startle him and never taking her eyes off of his she moved forward until she stood in front, right beside the elbow of the arm that was still extended to where she had been. She tugged on his fur ever so gently and he understood... of course he did, he was hers. She was his. He lifted the arm above her and set it down beside his chest. Slowly she walked towards him. She felt apprehension, fear, and nervous. She was afraid she would wake up and be back in that dismal apartment with his light gone from her life and her to be left all alone. She forced her fears away, if this was naught but a dream... she would be damned if she didn't make the best of it.
She moved with deliberate slowness walking back towards his heavy palm before ever so gently stepping up onto his hand, she forgot about her bad leg and as soon as she bore weight on it she collapsed, instinctively reaching out for the nearest thing she could grab which happened to be his thumb. She collapsed into the palm of his hand, his thumb blanketing her entire torso as she clutched it close. The warmth of his palm against her back, the warmth of his thumb against her abdomen... this was no dream this was real, and no amount of pain could measure up to the giddiness she suddenly felt.
Laughter poured from her lips, a sound that had not escaped her since the time they had gone ice skating together. She laughed long and hard, a heartwarming sound that lit the darkness of this dismal place as she snuggled down into the palm of his hand, delicately placing a kiss on the pad of his thumb, making sure her eyes never left his.

She was now safe, no one could hurt her or judge her any longer. She has already dealt with enough already. She didn't need anymore drama and most importantly she didn't need to be suffering. Sure, Kong knows that he cannot turn back time because if he could than he would have to prevent everything that tore her life apart from happening. Although, this wasn't the case. Things in New York and it's people are far different than how things are here in this new world or dimension that they are currently residing in.
All he could do was look into her eyes as she called him her Kong and then uttering the word 'beautiful'. He looked into her eyes with love as well as determination. This shows deeply how he feels for her but also that he was determined to keep her with him, no matter what. The longer he looked her in the eyes, the more his eyes told. It was more than obvious now that he was hurt inside to have her taken away from him. He was hurt from the inside to know how bad they have treated her and that she ended up going down the course of starvation.
He had also given off the look of relief as he knew that there she would have no threats as of now. Despite this, he was far too injured to even make a sound. The only thing he could do at the moment was just lay there and look at her. His body was scorching in pain, something that not even the mighty King of Skull Island could prevent. A groan uttered from his mouth, showing discomfort to the spear that was inside of him. Blood was spilling out of the wound.
Out of nowhere, he felt the spear being tugged on. As she pulled it, his wound bled and the pain only increased tenfold. He groaned louder this time as she pulled harder and finally, followed by a yelp from Kong she pulled it out. After she had pulled it out, he could feel a throbbing pain for a little bit but once she started packing snow onto his wounds, he began to feel much better. It didn't help much at first but once the snow settled in, it reversed his blood flow.
His eyes met hers once again as she stood there in front of him. His beautiful Ann was nurturing him. He gazed at her with a heavy heart, for his love for her was never ending. As he looked at her, he knew that within every breath that he takes it was for her. As his heart beats each time, it would only beat for her. Anytime he even opened his eyes, it would be for her. This is proof that a Gorilla can love just like everyone else and that Ann was not as crazy as people had portrayed him to be.
She finally climbed into his palm, collapsing almost immediately. He could feel the tender kiss from her lips to the pad of his thumb, something so lovely that he hadn't experienced in his life except for her. She always knew how to make him swell up with pride. It was then that he finally moved the muscles in his hand to close them so that his entire hand would keep her warm. His heart lit up when she laughed. To see her smile gain was more than enough for him to be happy but to see her laughing too, it really meant everything to him. Someone as beautiful as her shouldn't be frowning, stressed out, or suffering through her life. She deserved to live life with each day ending with her smiling beautifully like she always does. His world revolved around her, and it was obvious that by the look in his eyes that nothing would ever change that either. As he held her, seeing her laugh made him laugh too.

As his fingers tightened around her she did not flinch, only laughed a little bit louder as she coiled her arms around his fingers to the best of her ability, squeezing the digits with zeal. To be warm within his hold... nowhere else had she felt so protected, so safe, so warm, so...home. It dawned on her that the last time she had felt so at peace, so carefree, was when she had last been on his island. He was King there, that was his home, that was where he belonged. He had never belonged bound in chains and pranced about like some circus pony, he deserved the taste of fresh air on his tongue, the wind whipping through his fur without human smog and pollution tarnishing it. His symphony and orchestra were the animals as they called out to one another, his play, the animals who resided there.
She wished she had stolen Jack's gun and shot Carl Dunham dead. Nothing good ever lasts Mr. Dunham. No it never did... because people like him could not leave mystery alone. Could not leave wonder to permeate the world... no everything had to be rounded up, corralled... all for the price of an admissions ticket. Anger boiled beneath her flesh and she looked away from Kong not wanting him to think such malice was directed at him. She forced herself to calm down and glanced back up to meet his eyes.
"They arrested him... the man who stole you from your home. They placed him in a steal cage, encased him in chains, he will remain there for the next twenty or so years. Jack helped me make sure of that." Her voice was soft and quiet, she wasn't sure if he could understand her or not, but she felt compelled to tell him. Even the ship's captain had come to her aid when she had called. It had been her one spiraling moment of victory, but as a last ditch effort to save himself, it was the very same man who caused her life to spiral off in a downward spiral. "Carl was his name... I led the charge against him, and as retribution towards the end of his trial, he turned the people on me. He said it was my fault so many people had died, said if I wasn't in love with a monster none of it would have ever happened." She paused a moment, biting her lip, wondering if she should tell him this last part. " I was so angry with him at the time... I know it wasn't very kind but I punched him. Which in retrospect probably didn't help me out any." A bright blush lit up her face and she looked away in embarrassment. "But... I couldn't let him hurt you, even if you weren't there... it was he who deserved the title monster not you."
She sought out his eyes once more, they were soft and gentle and still watching her, always watching her. She smiled up at him. The bruises and the cuts... they would all fade in time, but those eyes would never leave her again.

Kong took a moment to sit up before lifting his hand up, bringing her up to his face as she spoke. He looked her in the eyes and did the best he could to understand everything that came out of her mouth. While Kong may not have retained his Human intelligence while in his original form, but he does have his own way of understanding things. Believe it or not, Gorillas are actually quite an intelligent bunch, especially one like Kong. Kong could understand the spoken words of English, he just could not respond in the way that they do.
However, luckily for Kong, he didn't have to. Ann loved him for who he was, and that's pretty much all that mattered. That's all he had been looking for throughout the timeline that the gang had went to Skull Island. If only they would have understood it from Kong's point of view, things could have been different. What if they were the last of their kind and had no one else to communicate with, nobody to relate to? Kong didn't have any of those things, but when Ann came into his life he got everything he had ever wanted.
As he looked at her, he started laughing. Sure, most of the time he was serious but there was something about being around her that just made him happy. He loved the sound of her laugh, he found her voice to be like a beautiful melody that one could listen to for hours and hours. He recalled the time that he was captured and being put out for display over the simple value of a ticket. He did not like that at all.
When she had brought it up, he shook his head heavily and then made a pop sound with his mouth, followed by a groan. Out of nowhere, he started yawning. He didn't know why though, because he didn't feel tired. It may not be easy to tell these kind of things but when she had said he wasn't a monster, his face lit up. His eyes had gotten more lively looking and his mouth was more opened a bit almost as if he was smiling.
It took Kong about thirty seconds to do this because of his injuries but he stood up. One fist was on the ground while the other hand was not as he had left that one reserved just for Ann to be held into. So far, he had liked the quietness of the forests now that the trolls were gone. He took one his left hand and pointed at the trees and then toward the ground in front of him and then looking back at her. He wanted to know what Ann thought, because he really likes it there. It's so peaceful, no trolls anymore, the sound of the harmless creatures were making their rounds. To him, it was beautiful. Surely, it wasn't anywhere near as beautiful as Ann to him but nature did mean a lot to him. He had hoped that she would feel the same way as he did.

Ann spoke no more words. Her eyes watched him as he laughed, a large mouth pulling back over rows of teeth the size of her arm. One solid bite and she would be nothing more than a rotting corpse, she had seen him rip the heads off of lesser men with the ease of opening a bottle cap. There was no doubt in her mind that he was ferocious and when properly motivated was a beast unleashed in battle. But Ann did not see such things. She did not see the battle scars that littered his body, nor did she notice the thick, course black hair, nor the way those canines tore through a V-rex's tongue. She saw the intelligence and the loneliness that sparkled in golden eyes, she felt the warmth that radiated from his soul. She saw his heart for it was, a creature lost and broken among the damned. A kindered spirit to her own.
He was her best friend, her only true friend. He understood her as no one ever had. Carl Dunham had famously quoted And lo, the beast looked upon the face of beauty, and beauty stayed his hand. And from that day forward, he was as one dead. He was incorrect, it was not beauty who had tamed the beast, it was not beauty who had captured his heart nor his spirit. It was quite the opposite really. It was the beast who was not truly a beast, but a beautiful creature who's eyes told stories without words, whose character spoke in leaping bounds with not more that a brush of a heavily padded thumb against her jaw... no it was the beast who had tamed beauty.
As he rose to his feet her heart beat painfully in her chest, he should not have been moving, his wounds were too fresh, too new. She squeezed his thumb tightly, gnawing on her bottom lip as her brow creased in worry. She couldn't watch him fall again, her heart simply couldn't take it. He gestured to the surrounding woodlands and she suddenly understood. Clouded with a sudden sadness she chocked back the whimper that threatened to escape her as she glanced around this barren wasteland of a forest.
"You miss it don't you? Skull Island I mean?" Her voice was soft, gentle, filled with understanding. Ann had never been anyone important. She wasn't a superstar and nor was she exceptionally pretty. She was a struggling actress, a face among millions, but Kong... Kong had been king. He ruled the forests, the jungles, tamed dinosaurs or forced them into submission. He had once been a great ruler... but now... how long had he been hiding in these dreadful woods. He deserved lush green forests filled with life! Not rotting trees that lay dying with the stench of dead trolls. She could do nothing for him, no more than cling to his large palm and hope she could do more.
