Kili starred up at the night sky, the moon and the stars glittering so high above him gave him a sense of vertigo. It was too open, too wide, he felt he would fall off the earth and straight into the sky. As if to ground himself he dug his thick fingers into the grass, only to grunt as Fili practically flew into his side. He growled low in his throat, his attention successfully shifted. Fili grinned like a fox, his ever trusty double blades held firmly in each hand, both drenched in blood. Immediately Kili's eyes swept his brother searching for signs of injury to his person.
"Stop lookin' at the damned sky will ya? Your face is going to get shat on by some nasty creature and you won't be the pretty one anymore... besides I got us a deer, more meat for us!" Fili hissed with a low grin, casting a quick glance over at the rest of the sleeping dwarves only to jump back in surprise as Thorin's heavy gaze landed upon him. Fili gulped, retreating a few steps. "I mean uh... for the lot of us to share in the mornin!" Fili was quick to retract his statement. Kili's round bout of laughter woke numerous other dwarves earning him several curses and grunts from the group. He lumbered t his feet and slapped his brother on the shoulder.
'Well now! I'll leave you two to sort out this little altercation! My sorry hide is going to bed!" Kili darted off, diving in the sleeping roll that had been humming his name since the sun sunk below the horizons. He fell asleep to the sounds of Fili's muffled apologies and Thorin's irritated growls.
Kili blinked his eyes open groaning against the intense bright white that met his dark gaze. He brought his hand out of his sleeping bag to rub at his eyes before letting it drop... into something wet. With a growl he sat up, glancing around the barren forest, only to be met with fields and fields of snow. Kili's eyes widened s he scrambled out of his sleeping bag, instinctively reaching for his bow...only to find it gone. Panic set in and subsided just as quickly as it sword was found at his waist.
"Fili!" His brother was the first name that crossed his muddled mind. "Fili you bloody bastard this isn't funny!" His voice was met with utter silence and despair filled his gut. His brother was his other half, they never went anywhere without the other, as much as they liked to deny it, they were connected at the hip if you will. "Fili! Thorin!" Nothing. Utter silence met his calls, his pleas. "Dwalin, Bombur, Bofer, Balin, Bifur!" Panic had overridden common sense. "Gloin, Oin, Dori, Ori, Nori!" His shouts echoed back to him, the hollow empty words lingering in the air of his lost companions. "Bilbo!" The last was shouted in desperation to no avail.
For the first time in Kili's life... he was alone.

Little did Kili know, he wasn't entirely alone.
Link placed the Master Sword back into the pedestal, sighing. It had been a grand journey, very grand indeed. Dangerous, perilous, and frightening as it was, it was completely worth it. He did it - he beat Ganondorf! He was done, his adventure was over, and he could finally return home now. Not that he wouldn't miss Zelda. She was kind and pretty, and her company was well enjoyed, but he had other people waiting for him back at Kokiri forest. Well, only one, really. And he couldn't stop thinking about her.
Saria. He needed to get back to her, to show her he was alright. Would she know about his incredible adventure? Probably not, but it would be a good story to tell, wouldn't it? Navi floated out from under his hat, sparkling as she flew around the green-clad boy. With a 'CLICK', the sword slid perfectly into the small slit centered in the stone, glowing slightly, filling the time chamber with a brilliant blue light.
"Oh, Link, can you believe it? We're finally going home! Home!"
She bobbed in the air happily, and Link chuckled. It certainly did feel good to be going back. Link was anticipating something magical, but soon a bright light entered into the small room from the doorway, momentarily blinding Link and causing him to throw his arms up. Yeesh, what was that? Then, the lights cut. Was he here? Navi shook herself, apparently dazed from the sudden lights. She fluttered over to the door, obviously drawing Link's attention to it.
"Lets try and get this thing opened! C'mon!"
Link cracked his knuckles, prepared for this. Okay, open the doors, enter the forest, right? He pressed himself against the cold stone gates, grunting as he pushed with all of his strength-
"Hwooooooaaaaahhhhh!"
You could almost hear that trademark jingle that signals when a new clue has been discovered, or a puzzle solved. But this small test lead to an even larger one, as Link's heart sank, staring out at a wide, snow-covered plain. Where was the forest?
"Maybe...maybe we landed wrong? Try pulling the sword out and doing it again!"
Link nodded, turning to see that there was no more pedestal or even an interior, just a bland, dark cave. In the center, the sword was stabbed into a small stone, and Link removed it, curious. He turned again, and the large doors became an open cave entrance. Something wasn't right here.
With the sound of metal rubbing against metal, Link returned the sword back into it's sheath on his back. He tightened his shield and walked out, his boots sinking into the snow slightly. Geez, it was cold... the two of them looked around, trying to spot anything that could help them. But nothing revealed itself. A voice, though, echoed through the emptiness. What was it saying?
"Follow the voice, Link, maybe it's someone who can help us?"
He complied with that order, running as fast as he could through the snow towards the voice. He could spot Kili now, about a hundred meters or so from where he was now, but he was quickly closing in on it. Link waved as he ran, trying to get Kili's attention.
"AAAAAH! HUUAAAH!"
Both Link and Navi hoped this man could help them, they hoped with all of their hearts...

Kili had never felt the displeasure of feeling lonely before. Being alone was such a foreign concept to dwarves... they lived beneath the surface of the ground often in crowded bunkers or cramped dorms, most everyone knew everyone and the majority of them had been in drunken brawls with one another at some point in time. It was all a very interlocking society... and Kili felt afraid without his brother at his back and Thorin at his flank.
He had no clue and no idea as to where he was, nothing looked familiar, nothing smelled familiar, he felt...lost. Totally and utterly lost. What was this place and how in Smaug's name had he gotten here? And for that matter, where was here? Was he even on middle earth anymore? His heart sunk and he felt like he might vomit, he was supposed to be aiding his uncle, he was supposed to be watching out for his older brother, he was supposed to fighting the nasty, horrible dragon to ensure their peoples peace once again... but he was here... wherever here was.
A scream, a shout, had him spinning around, hope dying just as fast as it had risen in his chest and his trusty sword was in his grasp in an instant. His eyes hard coals of steel and his mouth pressed into a tight line. He could trust no one, not until he assessed who they were and what they wanted with him. This stranger was just that. Dressed in bizarre clothes, with pointed ears, he almost snarled as he thought of the elves. Nasty, blasted, orc suckling race!
"Who are you and what do you want with me? I am skilled warrior and I serve under Thorin's banner, he is the future king of Lonely Mountain and I bid you tell me where I am." He needed to know where he was and why he was here, and if this... this...elf like creature had brought him here, he better damn well have a very good reason and he best be sending him home.

Link stopped running when he came within a few yards of the strange man, who was obviously not in any mood to discuss things civilly with Link. Not that Link would be doing much of the talking, but still. He knew a fight when he saw one, and he bent down on his knees slightly, drawing his sword and Hylian Shield, holding the latter out in front of him in a defensive manner. He wasn't here to fight, but he would surely bring one on of Kili continued to be so...frantic.
"WAAAAIT! We don't have to fight here!"
Navi bobbed up and down as fast as she could to draw their attentions, her light-blue glowing body would be lost in the white backdrop had she not sparkled. Just one of many difficulties of being a fairy! Still, her words would not go unheard, she didn't want any unnecessary violence, at least not out here, where it was cold and dull. The guy was obviously just as bewildered as they were, but when he spoke, he talked of alien lands and names...who was this person? Thorin? Lonely Mountain? Hm...
Being the natural negotiator, Navi floated out towards Kili a bit, but not too much. He was armed, too - and she, well, wasn't. But that's what Link was for, right? Yes, yes, right.
"Oh uh...well this is Link! He's Hyrule's hero!"
She flew around Link's head, and he smiled. Hyrule's Hero had such a great ring to it, didn't it? The fairy then fluttered off towards Kili again, addressing herself this time.
"And I'm Navi, his fairy! Sorry but we really don't know where this is, we just got here..."
That's the best they could do, Dwarf - Navi really hoped you weren't planning to attack!

Kili remained guarded, leery of this stranger but he lowered his blade to rest at his side. He was lost amidst this vast world and if, perhaps, this stranger knew where he was, he wished not to tempt him. While Kili usually distrusted the like of anything with long and pointed ears, until he discovered what and who stood before him... he had no desire to shed blood. If it came down to it, Kili was a more than capable fighter, but he at least wished to know where he was before striking. He examined the bizarre glowing creature that hovered above him and was slightly caught off guard, such magic's did not exist in middle earth... or at least he did not think they did. He blinked as it spoke, realizing, in fact, it was some kind of being.
"Whether such things come down to a fight will depend entirely upon your intentions." Kili grunted, he wanted no trouble, but trouble had a way of finding him. If this was an elaborate prank by Fili, he swore on all of his riches that he would feed the blasted fool to Smaug himself. The rest of her speech was equally foreign to him, and he had a sinking feeling that this was no prank or trick, he was actually trapped here...wherever here was.
"Hyrule? I have never heard of such a place... I'm afraid I won't be f much use to either of you. I fell asleep in the woods surrounded by dwarves and trolls the size of houses and woke up here. I come from a world called Middle Earth but I have a sneaking suspicion that this is not it, and that you are not from it." He referred to them both, the fairy and the...well male... he still wasn't sure what race the man belonged to.
"This place is unfamiliar to me, and I have seen most of what there is to see on middle earth, the dwarven caverns, the elven cities, the orcs lairs... to the most beautiful mountains to the most foul smelling bogs... but never have I seen a place such as this... and what about the two of you?" He supposed some manner of company was better than no company at all, and unless he proved to be like those dishonorable elves, he decided he would have no quarrel with them.

Link could relate to Kili in one aspect - trouble always seemed to find him. At least, when he wasn't rushing headlong into it. When the strange man lowered his blade, Link silently stood up straight, allowing his own blade to fall to his side as well, keeping his shield level to his chest. Just in case, you know? It never hurt to be prepared. The man was obviously amused - or, at least, curious - by Navi, although she made no note of that. It wasn't entirely surprising, really. Not everyone in Hyrule had a fairy, and most people didn't seem to know very much about the Kokiri forest. But, if he really didn't know a lot about the forest...what good could he be?
Both Link and Navi were taken aback by Kili's next statement.
"WHAT?! Never heard of Hyrule?!"
Link startled, eyes wide with disbelief and mouth gaping open slightly.
"Ah!"
How could he not know of Hyrule?! It was the largest country in the world! At least, that's what Navi thought. But she had never heard of this 'Middle Earth' before, either. And chances are, Link was just as clueless. Trolls? Dwarves? This can't be good...
"Well, uh...we were hoping to get to Kokiri forest? As you can see, this isn't a forest...and it didn't snow there. I don't really know where we are, to be honest..."
She flew a little lower than normal - Navi was usually sure about what they had to do, but right now she didn't know the first thing about where they were. And that made her feel helpless and weak. But hey, at least they weren't the only ones, right? Link walked towards Kili, sizing him up and down. His attire was definitely not Hylean nor Kokiri...and his ears! They weren't pointed! How strange...
"Maybe there is someone we can ask for help?"

For now, Kili sheathed his blade. The formidable steel, crafted in the darkness of the dwarven caverns found its home easily in the worn sheath. Battle and war were in his very blood, the dwarves by nature were an anger, formidable foe and while Kili was a great deal more laid back than his brethren, he still exhibited the same caution as the rest of his race was known for.... but that did not mean he was violent unnecessarily, all he wished was to return too middle earth and find Thorin but he doubted this man or his... floating friend would much be able to help him... since they appeared just about as lost as he.
"None of these names are familiar too me. I hail from a land called middle earth and I'm from a race of dwarves that once claimed the mountain dubbed Lonely. There are a great many places hidden away in Middle Earth, but none of which go by the name of Hyrule." Kili frowned, answering the glowing creature carefully. He knew not what magic was stored within the confines of this world and he cared little to find out. Kili had forever been leery of magic.
He narrowed his eyes thinking carefully of his options. He could journey with this silent man and his little flying friend, but how could he be sure he was not stepping blindly into a trap? The duo did not appear evil or to have wicked intent and Kili's eyes were keen, if he journeyed with them, at least for a time, that gave him an extra blade, an extra fighter in combat, even if they weren't sufficient in skill it was better than being alone. With a soft sigh and seeing as he had little choice he stepped forward and offered his hand, hopefully they wouldn't mistake it for a violent action.
"I know not what we will encounter, or who we shall ask, but I would think it better to travel in company rather than alone. Truce?" Kili decided that honesty was probably the best policy here. They seemed like a decent enough pair and as long as they didn't knife him... he could see no harm in traveling with them.

Link finally relaxed when Kili sheathed his weapon, but he didn't put his sword nor his shield away. And it wasn't out of fear of Kili attacking - it was merely to be prepared. He knew full-well that uncharted lands could house all sorts of unknown evils, and it was never good to be caught in a life-or-death situation without your sword in one hand and your shield on the other. The addition of Kili to their ranks would help - he knew that accepting aid wherever it presented itself was very crucial to survival - but since he knew nothing more than Navi or Link, he wouldn't be too much help. They were up the creak without a paddle, which wasn't very good, all things considered.
"Middle Earth? I've...we've never heard of that before. Or of dwarves... this is pretty odd. We're gonna have to do some investigating, Link!"
The boy nodded, eyes sharpening. This certainly was odd, and not in the normal 'what just happened, lets go collect some magical artifacts' kind of odd. More like the condemning odd that forced you to ponder and explore just to get some sort of ground on just what is so odd.
He stepped forward and presented his hand. Link blinked, then nodded once more, firmly gripping it with his shield-bearing arm and shaking succinctly. Navi bounced around joyfully, happy that someone else would help them through this maze of questions.
"Alright! Lets move on!"

At first the man seemed confused about Kili's gesture perhaps it was not customary for his people to shake on a truce, perhaps they practiced the art of bashing ones skull into the others? A great many dwarves did as such, even in the heat of battle, something told Kili if he tried, it would end in bloodshed and wisely he kept such a notion to a hand shake.
Kili surveyed his new companions wearily, he doubted either one of them had ever encountered orcs or trolls... at least not the beasts from his world, they seemed to clean, to...pretty. Kili was considered handsome, especially for his race, but his flesh beneath the armor was riddled with battle wounds and scars as old as childhood. They seemed relatively free of scars and wounds... he wondered what land required a warrior he came back unscathed, it seemed... strange. Perhaps a magic outside his knowledge was at work here. Sighing quietly Kili fell into stride with the two, he imagined they looked rather ridiculous together but without his company Kili felt ridiculous... especially without Fili. Fili was his other half.
"Why don't you speak laddy? I have never met a warrior who did not bellow of his accomplishments the first chance he got." Granted, Kili had grown up around boisterous dwarves whose stubbornness and pride seem to run as deep as the mountains in which they claimed as their home, but middle earth had never been known for hiding its races away, unless, of course, you were a hobbit, in which case a hidden hole in the ground served you just fine, but that was neither here nor there. Even Bilbo would be a welcome sight to Kili's anxious eyes.
"Tell me about your world... perhaps if we can find a similarity between your world and mine, we will have a chance at figuring out how to return." Kili was not used to leading or giving commands, but it seems the situation called for someone with a brain and Kili did not have Thorin to aid him.

It wasn't that Link didn't know what a handshake was, he just hadn't...done it often. Most people he met on his journey were enemies, and those who were his allies didn't waste time with hand-shakes or hellos, and just simply rushed with him into battle. Bashing skulls, though, does seem like something Link would do. He's a pretty odd boy, if that wasn't already obvious. As outlandish as Link was, he wasn't one who should be underestimated. Orcs and Trolls may not have been his enemies, but with the dark evils that the great Ganondorf had called upon, it was hard to imagine anything more. Link had courage, and a Triforce to show for it, and would lift his sword to any and all evil! That was much easier said than done but hey, he would try.
And then Kili asked why Link was so silent.
"A-ah..."
The boy rubbed the back of his neck as they walked, crunching snow under his boots. Well...he didn't really know why. He just didn't. Maybe he was mute, maybe he just didn't have anything to say - whatever it was, it was there. The Silent Hero, he was.
"Hee hee! Link just doesn't talk, but that's okay."
He sighed, leaving it to Navi, as always, to do the talking.
"Our world? Well...I'm not sure what to say! There was Zelda - she was pretty! - there was Hyrule, the Sheikahs, then that evil Ganondorf...I'm not entirely sure what you mean." She honestly had no idea what Kili wanted her to say. As far as she was concerned, they haven't even left Hyrule yet. But this world was so unique, and Kili was so outlandish, it just might be possible.

Kili accepted the vague answer. All warriors seemed to have secrets, he had his own that he did not intend on sharing and if Link wished to keep his, Kili would not fault him for it. The dwarves of Erebor had too many secrets, too many miseries, memories he did not wish to relive haunted him in dreams and when he was left alone with his thoughts. he would push no mortal man for answers, he understood the implications of such things. He listened intently as the small creature told him of her land. It did not seem so very extraordinary, and a grave bit different from his own. Ganondorf... that sounded a lot like Gandalf but the grey wizard was a good and tempered soul. Evil was not a word Kili would use to describe the wizard. Ornery and irritable sure, but not evil. With a sigh he gave up. There would be no answers to be found in such conversation.
"Your world sounds intriguing... were their many cruelties? Villains and heroes? Or just you two?" Kili was curious, perhaps too curious but the small sprite seemed like a talkative creature and it brought his spirits up to hear a friendly voice, stranger or no. He opened his mouth to share a bit of his own world with them when the ground shook and the trees quivered and every muscle, every nerve, every fiber in Kili's body went rim rod straight.
He pulled his sword from his scabbard and paced backwards as the trees shook harder and the booming...footsteps? The color drained from Kili's face as he realized what exactly was coming towards them, his grip tightened on the hilt of his blade and he was fast to look around to see if shelter could be found. Two people were not enough to bring down such a creature.
"That would be a troll." Kili grunted, finding and seeing nothing and turning to face the monstrous thing. He shifted his grip on his trusty blade and glanced at Link for only a moment. "I do hope you are a good of warrior as you claim, we are going to need all the help we can get. The monstrous thing burst through the trees, skin white and pasty, hideous blue veins bulging against its fat rolls, boils and open orifices oozed pus and thick and daggerous teeth pulled up in a grin as it roared at them. Covering them in spit, saliva and whatever other foul secretions found their way into his mouth. Kili wasted no more time and charged.

Perhaps Link's problem was not an abundance of secrets, but a lack-thereof? He honestly doesn't have much to talk about, even in the best of times. Navi was just as good as a communicator as he required, so there weren't any complaints from him there. Ganondorf had been the only actual threat to Hyrule - even though there were monsters everywhere, they all traced back to him. Ugh, just thinking about him got Link all riled up. He couldn't stand thinking about him, but he was dead now. Or at least, gone. Link defeated him, and his reign of terror was over. Oh, just think about what would have happened if Link failed? He didn't want to think about that either. So then what should he think about? ...How about the journey ahead of them? Yeah, that sounded better. Navi spoke up to answer Kili once again.
"Nothing aside from Ganondorf, really. He was a pretty cruel person, he covered the whole land in darkness! He would have taken it all over if it weren't for this guy right here!"
Link smiled. Kili had Navi figured out - she was a very talkative person - er, fairy - and the more questions you had the needed answers, the more answers she had that needed questions. She was about to continue on, when suddenly, the ground started shaking. BOOM. Link stopped dead in his tracks, eyes narrowing and looking all around him. He could feel the footsteps in the ground - this thing was big! Suddenly, it burst from the trees, running straight towards them. Whatever it was. Kili called it a Troll, and it certainly lived up to it's name. Link raised his shield to the beast when it roared, avoiding a nasty covering of grotesque liquids. See, being prepared really does pay off!
Kili was already running at the creature, but Link wasn't sure a completely direct approach would work so well against quite a large foe. But at least he had a combat buddy!
"Hey! Link! It's large, but it doesn't seem very smart! See if you can confuse it!"
Link nodded, and ran at the creature himself, shield held forward and sword gripped tightly in his other hand. When he was close enough, he ducked and rolled right between the creature's legs, holding his breath so as to not breath in it's foul stink, and emerging behind it.
"HUT!"
He used the momentum of his roll to leap up, swinging his sword in the same direction until it was pointed straight towards the sky. A green trail followed the slash as it moved up the Troll's back, aiming to inflict damage to it and distract it long enough for Kili to land his own attack. He landed in a crouched position, sword fading from a glimmering green back to a brilliant silver, shield raised towards the beast. Oh yeah, he was ready to fight!

Kili smiled at the small fairy. She was so bubbly, so excitable, there was no way such a thing came from his world. His world, while having a plethora of races ranging from orcs to elves... did not possess a great deal of joy, perhaps during festivals or great feasts, or in the dwarves case, great kegs of ale, but never was someone so...bubbly all the time, and if there were a race of creatures, he prayed they stay well hidden. His world loved to destroy anything filled with light and this creature was so obviously one of them. He chuckled lightly, a small smile creeping its way across his face as she praised the warrior, if he didn't know any better, he would say the small sprite was quite smitten with Link. It wouldn't surprise him, traveling with someone long enough to learn to speak for them... they had to have had some pretty strong bonds at least. He wisely kept his mouth shut.
"You sound like a fearsome warrior Link, we could have used more men like you to fight Smaug. A rather large and rather ill tempered fire drake from the north." The innocent villages screams and cries of pain still tainted his ears, the scent of burning flesh and of tears, he could remember the devastation the best had caused. He had been little more than a toddler but he could still remember the devastation his people had suffered. His attentions left the past as the lumbering troll burst into their sights.
Link was faster, thinner, more limber than him and beat him for the first attack. ducking between the things... loincloths and hopping back up just as quickly, raking his sword along the beasts backside. The creature roared, displeased and whirled around to face him, massive hands slamming down to squash the offender. Kili wasted no more time, he knew a distraction and an opportunity when one presented itself.
He dug his blade into the fleshy part of the creature side and dragged it away, ripping through tendons and muscle like tissue, before rolling away to avoid the crashing arm that cracked the earth. They were both relatively small, they needed to take out the things legs if they wanted a chance at killing it and perhaps together they could do it.
"Link the other leg!" Kili shouted plunging his sword into the brutes hand, it barely made a difference but it was enough to gain its attention and favoring his other leg heavily, he swung towards Kili.

Actually, it Navi was probably infatuated by Link. She spent a great deal of time with him and greatly cares for him, although she hasn't shown those kinds of signs, it wouldn't exactly be a stretch. Perhaps it was more of a platonic love, though. Brother-sister relationships and all that - certainly made a lot of sense, as well. She would probably get nervous if you mentioned that, though. Probably try to change the subject to boot! But that was besides the point. The prospect of fighting a fiery dragon did, Link would admit (if he could speak), get his blood pumping. Especially one that has done so much wanton damage, caused so much chaos, and brought about so much death. You bet he would travel all the way to the Lonely Mountain to fight such a creature - even if he had to find five mystical stones before he could enter!
But, lets focus on one battle at a time, yes? Link was right to raise his shield, as the Troll lumbered around and swung its giant arm down onto him. His shield held fast, although Link was knocked onto his knee in the snow, arm trembling under the might of the brute. Jeez, this thing was strong! Luckily for Link, Kili had made his own attack, attracting the beast's attention. Now was the time to strike!
"Do as he says, Link! Get that leg!"
Link too a deep breath and stood back up, bouncing on his toes and cracking his neck. Alright, here goes nothing! He ran at the Troll once more, screaming a proud battle cry and slicing at the backside of it's knee. While the attack was shallow, it would sever the tendon in the leg, making it useless to the Troll. Lets hoped this works!

Kili did not have a vast amount of experience handling trolls. On middle earth... they tended to cling to the black mountains, where darkness overtook the light more hours a day. Since dwarves lived in dank caverns on ground level, they very rarely collided and even when they did, the trolls seemed not to even notice them. On middle earth they turned to stone if light so much as flickered across their flesh, it was the best possible weapon to use against them. But here, it seemed that the trolls were not stunted by such magic. They were just as big, just as stupid and just as ugly, but were able to withstand the lights rays... which made this battle all the more difficult. Instead of having to distract it long enough for the sun to appear, they were now forced to actually kill the damn thing. A feat Kili had never preformed.
He sprung to the right, summer- salting and barely dodging the massive fist that cracked the dirt beneath him, with one leg down he swayed unsteadily. Dodge after dodge, quick jab to alter the path the massive trolls fist followed... luckily for him Link made an excellent duel companion in battle and with another roar of pain and flailing arms the thing was grounded, blood spewing from sliced arteries from veins as it meaty legs gave up the ghost, but apparently, it knew not when to give up. Swinging its arms wildly, Kili got caught under the legs and slammed into the dirt and with a grunt he quickly rolled out of the way of the second attack and sliced his blade along its palm. The thing just wouldn't die!
"Shall you lead this next charge or shall I?" It wasn't like it was going anywhere fast, but they couldn't just leave it here to suffer... or to find some innocent civilian.

At least Kili had some experience with this thing! Link was completely unaware of how the Troll fought, how it had a weakness to sunlight, and how it easily riled up. The duo wouldn't even know it was called a 'Troll' if it hadn't been for Kili. But, lucky for them, they were subduing the monster, even if very slowly. In fact, the only thing that seemed to do it harm were the hits on it's legs, which sputtered out blood like a broken pipe, causing it great injury but also giving it great rage. No way this thing would be safer angered - they would have to kill it, which Link had no objection to. First time for everything, hm?
Well, it seemed as though it was Link's turn yet again. Kili might have just taken a hit, but they could evaluate their wounds after the battle was won, and it wasn't won just yet. The monster was incapacitated though, and it wouldn't take much to finish it off. Link ran at the large Troll, screaming.
"AAAAAAAHHH!"
He waited for the monster to punched, before jumping and landing on the back of it's hand, stabbing his sword into it and holding on tightly. If only he had his arrows right now! This would be much easier then! But, he didn't, and so he would have to do this...manually. He removed his sword and began to ascend the beast's arm in three long strides, then jumped off and aimed to stab his sword into it's eye!
...He hoped this would take it down, because he didn't have any other ideas.

Kili knew nothing of his companions fighting style, what his skills were, or what foes he had faced. The dwarf had faced so many different things, fighting new creatures was a bit of a thrill, battle was still exuberant and exciting to him. He was not yet hardened by death and decay. This troll, however, was a vast deal different than the ones he had back on Middle Earth, its weakness were different and it didn't appear like it could talk... trolls on middle earth scarcely shut up. However, as Link shot forward, battle cry bellowing from his chest Kili almost stopped him. Trolls were known for stupidity and smashing their hands into anyone and anything they could find, and that at least, held true here.
With a growl he charged forward, fueled by the need to save his unwitting companion as he tore into the creatures massive hands. Kili used the distraction to get close, it would be only a matter of time before he smashed the thing warrior into something. Kili ducked, barely avoiding the trolls free hand and plunged his blade, hilt deep into the things abdomen. He dragged it as far as he could, creating a gash that oozed abdominal fluids, organs and blood. He pulled his blade free and leapt to the side, avoiding pounding fists with bone shattering force. Kili watched it swing uselessly for a few more moments before finally it gave up the ghost and crashed to the forest floor.
Kili's dark eyes scanned the earth for his two unlikely companions. Right now they were his only allies unwitting or no and he was loathe to forfeit them. He could only hope and remain positive that they had gotten out of the way of the beasts massive frame.
"Link! Navi!" It was engrained in his psyche never to leave a companion or a warrior behind and even if he was carrying off dead bodies, he would be sure that they received a proper burial.

It was probably a little far-fetched to think that Link had any sort of specialized combat style. Heck, most of the time he was just swinging the blade around aimlessly, hoping it hit something! But his experience has taught him well, and he knows how to at least look like he can handle the blade with some capability. His courage was still his greatest weapon, though, staring danger down like the hero he is. It was good to know that he wasn't the only warrior, though, as Kili boldly rushed into battle with him, aiming for the beast's chest. Link was forced off the monster's head when it fell, letting go of his sword and dropping onto his back, grunting. Ugh, he would feel that in the morning...!!!
Link tumbled backward as the thing fell, narrowly missing him by nary an inch or so. Sheesh! He sighed, standing up as Navi floated out of the safety of his cap. Did he always have to be so reckless? They could have been killed just now! But he hadn't gotten them killed yet, and this Troll was just another object of their accomplished goals. Cracking his back, Link waved to Kili in response to his yelling. It's okay, they're fine! Link crouched down by the monster's body, grabbing the hilt of his sword, which was lodged firmly in it's head. Hnnn....HHAAAAAAAAAUUUUUGH! He pulled with all of his strength, digging his boots into the snow, and tugged the sword free, which was covered with ooze and blood...
"eeewww...you should clean that off..."
The boy whipped it to the side, forcing much of the nastiness off of the metal, but it was still pretty dirty. Okay, whatever, he can clean it later. He was thinking of sheathing it, but if they could be attacked by other beings like this one, then it was probably better for him to have it out.
The two made their ways back to Kili, who was thankfully alright.
"That was tough! We're happy to have you with us!"
Link smiled - she couldn't be more right. But, they still had a lot of ground to cover, and the only thing they knew was that this world had some pretty dangerous monsters. Just what was this place, anyway?

The battle, at least, was exhilarating to Kili, a war, a battle, a fight, violence in general was something familiar too him, something he could wrap his head around and understand. It was familiar, it was home and despite the fact that this monstrous beast was completely different than the ones back on middle earth, it still gave him a taste of home, and perhaps it was the singular greatest thing he could get here... as depressing as that may have sounded. He swung the massive blade like a man scorned, digging in deep and tearing through his pound of flesh. The wave of his companions hand, was enough to fuel him forward and a combination of their attacks, finally felled the massive troll and it slumped to the ground. Not breathing and quite dead.
Kili took a moment to catch his breath, knowing his companion probably needed one as well, trolls were not easy creatures to fell and no doubt he would be sore for the next few days, if not the week in its entirety. They were dumb as a bag of rocks but their strength was formidable, and their punch, he winced slightly as he rose back to his feet, cleaning his blade with a worn rag to the best of his ability before sheathing it.
"I think... it would be wise to stick together until we found some sort of civilization. Who knows what else lingers in these woods and I for one, would rather have a second warrior at my back then nothing at all. Do we have an accord?" It was only smart for the two of them to band together, they were both just as lost as the other and it never hurt to make an ally, even if the grounds it was built on were questionable at best, it almost seemed as though someone had dragged them both here to purposefully meet one another... but why? They were so utterly different, from seemingly entirely opposing realms, why were they brought to the same place at the same time? Something about all of this just didn't sit well with Kili, but what choice did he have but to press forward. "Would you care to do the honors of picking a direction?"
