GENERAL:

Darth Maul looks like something out of your worst nightmare, with dark black and blood-red skin. The patterns of black and red on his face resemble that of tribal paint and torn flesh, enhancing his demonic appearance, which is only escalated further by his horns. He is fit and has well-defined muscles, with his black and red patterns trailing across his chest. His eyes are dark with yellow-red coloring, reflecting his loyalty to the dark side. His teeth are yellow and black with rot, showing his blatant distaste for personal hygiene or care. He is described as being 'nearly two meters tall', but he's actually only about one and three-fourth meters tall. Easily standing out in crowds, Maul is not normally anyone's first selection when it comes to stealth or espionage, although he does blend into the night very well in his dark clothing, which closely resembles the robes worn by Darth Sidious himself.

ATTIRE:

Naturally, Maul dresses in exclusively black. Black robes, black cloak, black belt, black gloves, and black boots. His hood is large enough to cover most of his face, and his robe's sleeves are incredibly large at the ends. This dark appearance makes the Sith Lord look like a walking shadow, doing nothing but making him seem very grim and evil - which he is. His robe is normally worn for commonplace attire, although barely hides his otherworldly look, and is normally discarded when fighting seriously.

PERSONALITY

Maul is, simply, an embodiment of pure evil and hatred. Being raised from a young age under Darth Sidious, he has known nothing but evil his entire life, although this doesn't seem to anger him. His temper is easy to set off though, and his cruelty is harsh - but he is not entirely heartless. Those who have earned his respect and/or gratitude can expect a swift, painless death as opposed to a slow and painful, for lack of a better term, 'mauling'. He is arrogant and boastful, often putting himself above other fighters, even believing that he could destroy the entire Jedi Order on his own.

He is a firm follower of the Sith, and hopes to continue the order on his own, seeing it as his responsibility. Even though he is very cruel, he seems to have a mutual connection to his master, Darth Sidious, mostly because he raised him from a youngling. Although he loves battle, he still hoped that his role as a Sith would go beyond merely assassinations, although he would not be able to see this through.

Speaking of combat, Maul really lives up to his name in that aspect, rarely holding back against his foes and nearly always destroying them. He seamlessly utilizes the force with his fighting, often preferring Force Telekinesis.

WEAPONRY:

Being a Sith, Darth Maul excels greatly in the Force - but he shines his brightest on the battlefield, where his surprising battle prowess surpasses many other fighters, although he has a long way to go before he can be considered a "one-man army", as Sidious put it. Still, he can hold his own against a Jedi Master and Padawan at the same time with such ease it would appear as though it was - and probably is - second nature to him. He is so advanced in combat that he can utilizes both the single and double-bladed options on his lightsaber, and possibly even dual-wielding blades. He is a strong fighter, and his style is advanced, but he is a brute nonetheless, often incorporating physical blows (like kicking and slamming) into his saber fighting. He is also very acrobatic, flipping and spinning consistently.

.:The Lightsaber:.

Maul's - and most other Sith/Jedi's weapon of choice - is his Lightsaber, an energy-based blade that glows red. The Lightsaber's dominating trait is it's cutting potential, as it can easily slice through metals and other materials alike, although thicker substances generate more resistance. However, the Lightsaber cannot cut through everything. Energy - forcefields, shields, other lightsabers, electricity, etc. - would stop the blade. The lightsaber will also short-out when submerged in water, unless specially made (although Maul's is not) to be water proof. Rain, while causing the blade to steam, is not capable of shorting out the saber.

Maul's saber is very unique, though, as it has a hilt of great length and can generate two red lightsaber blades at opposite ends, creating a staff-like weapon. It has two different emitters, so even if the blade is cut in half, it produces two separate sabers, depending on where it was cut. Maul only seems to use both sides when he feels he needs to, though, and is just as deadly with one blade as he is with both of them.

HISTORY:

As an infant, Maul's mother gave him over to Darth Sidious, who secretly raised him to be a Sith Lord on Mustafar with the help of a droid. He practiced many different forms of combat, and became a Sith Lord - although he was unaware that his Master answered to a Master of his own. Even so, Maul was more of a Sith Assassin than a Sith Lord, even though he considered himself to be the later.

Mauls first mission was to send the Black Sun, a group of criminals, into chaos. He completed his mission perfectly, heavily damaging the group. Maul was later sent to follow Queen Amidala after she escaped the Galactic blockade, ending up on Tatooine. He released droid probes to detect the Queen, and quickly found her, engaging combat with Qui-Gon Jinn in a short but fierce battle in the desert before the Jedi fled into the spacecraft just as it was taking off.

He was then stationed on Naboo to look over the Trade Federation, displeased with his own failure to defeat the Jedi and kill the queen, although Sidious was not angered over the failed assassination. Maul stood as the head of the Droid military in Naboo, but was horribly disgusted with the Nemodians, considering them stupid and careless. He enjoyed how he frightened them, though. Maul was given the instruction to wait for Amidala's forces to strike, and hide until then.

Had Maul not ventured into Aldeon unexpectedly, he would have encountered Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn in combat, where he would lose his life but take Qui-Gon's in the process.
