The thin figure sat in the field the wind swayed the field grass. Rue sighed and turned to Frell who was sitting on her shoulder looking at her with his head cocked. She smiled, "What district do you think we are in Frell?" Frell chirped in a unsure tone. Rue sighed and flopped down in the grass. Frell hoped over onto her stomach. "It looks so much like 11. Do you think we are finally home?" Frell studied her expression and for once chirped nothing. She sighed and stroked a wild flower with her hand. She found it to be a flower called an Indian blanket. She picked it and put it into her hair. She turned her head to the right and saw a pond. Her tongue was as dry as sand paper. She leaped to her feet and Frell flew to the air following Rue who was running and leaping over some fallen twigs or roots every so often. She looked like someone out of a fairy tale. Rue sank to her knees at the river and mud soaked into her pants. Rue didn't care. Carefully she cupped her hands afraid that the water would disappear at any moment. After a few sips she just laid on her stomach and gulped the water down. Her finger laid in the water easing her scarred and cut hands. Her hands grazed the tip of a plant and she looked at it. A Katniss Plant. Rue sat up and tapped the water with her finger. She then took both hands and took the plant out undisturbed. She placed it in front of her and Frell landed beside her. Rue's eyes watered. Katniss. Her ally. Katniss. Her friend. Katniss. Did Marvel kill Katniss? Tears streamed from her face now landing on the root. She cried and covered her mouth with her hand trying to block the sound but, she couldn't. Frell looked concerned and hopped on her knee. Rue's eyes were too teary to notice the little bird. She continued to sob and she heard a rustle on the other side of the pond. She ignored it knowing it could be something dangerous. She looked up from her sobbing her face red and wet with tears.

The steady mare raced across the ground. Heavy hooves creating a familiar gait as she ran. Red was smiling, clutching her mane tightly, her head lowered beside her wildly flowing mane as she urged her faster, harder. The two had grown up together. She had raised the mare by hand as a child and even now they remained the best of friends. She wasn't a show quality horse and she certainly wasn't a best of breed, but she was Red's greatest ally and she wouldn't trade her for the finest stallion in all the lands. The dappled grey mare, lovingly named Coco, nickered softly and Red laughed, her long, thick red cloak snapping in the breeze behind her. She did not often indulge in a bareback run, most people found it uncouth and dreadfully uncivilized to ride without a proper bit and saddle, but Red lived to scandalize society and so she found herself flying across the lands, with nothing but her thick, heavy mane to grasp onto.
A small flash of movement caught her heightened senses and she gently tugged backwards on her mane. Coco whinnied and pulled up into a trot, slowly her furious pace. Was that a...a child? Nudging her sides, she directed the horse towards the small child, guiding it into a steady canter. What was a child doing out here alone? As she drew closer, the scent of salt stung her nose and quickly she realized the child was crying. Pulling Coco, up into a quick halt, she abandoned the horse and sunk to her knees in the snow, reaching out for the childs face and delicately brushing her tears away.
"Hey... hey it's alright... please stop crying. My names Red, tell me what's wrong, I can help you." Red spoke softly gently murmuring to the little girl. Children had always been a weakness of hers, one of many and her heart bled for this small child. It was clear she was scared and probably lost. Red only hoped she hadn't been ripped from another world. She was loathe to tell this child that she could never return to her family.

Rue met eyes with this girl. She didn't look like a tribute or a capitol person so Rue felt a bit more cofortable. At first she was unsure not understanding much of water happened at all. One moment she was intent in the flowers the next sobbing over a root. she must have looked pretty stupid. Rue wanted to scream this was so frustating not knowing where she was or even if this was still in the games. Was she a trap. Rue doubted it. She would have been dead now if she was still there. Marvel's spear would have stabbed right though her stomach and slowly killed her. The thought of death shook Rue like an earthquake and her lower lip trembled slightly. "I'm just really confused right now. I guess I am lost." Rue said taking her hand and running it through her hair. Rue noticed Frell and ran her hand over his back and he chirrped a quiet note. She looked back up. "I'm Rue." She said. The questions burned inside of her like coal, where was she? Rue took a deep breath and tried to take her view fromt he lake filled with Katniss roots. "Is this the Capitol?" Rue said. Rue sounded strange and she knew it. Maybe she was close by. She didn't know. Still the question sparked to be answered. Where was she? Frell looked up at Ruby and cocked his head slightly the way he does when he meets new people. Rue smiled slightly. Leave it to Frell to be socially awkward. Rue whistled her tune looking down at Frell and Frell hopped around and repeated ti flapping his wings in amusement. "Silly." Rue said to the little bird and looked back up at Ruby.

Red crouched before the small child, green eyes sparkling with obvious concern and distress for the poor thing. Who could be so cruel as to rip a youth like this away from everything she knows? Red doubted she was even old enough to fend for herself, much less be abandoned and ripped away from her family. Red hated this curse and she hated her world for making such a horrendous thing possible. For all of her physical strength... she could do nothing too return these people home. She was utterly powerless, and she hated every damnable minute of it.
"I'm afraid I have never heard of such a thing called the capital. Right now you are in the kingdom of Aledon. I'm not sure you are on your world anymore... if you are lost, I run an Inn, its not the most luxurious of places but I can offer you food and a warm bed." Red stayed crouched beside the young girl, Coco, behind her, snorted impatiently, pawing the ground, even in her old age, the damned thing was untameable. Red wasn't good with kids, she found them far too delicate and with her... less than gentleness, she feared she would break them, it was one of many reasons she did not wish for a child of her own... no matter how much the idea might have appealed to her otherwise.
"I promise I will do everything in my power to see you return home." Red smiled as sweetly as she was able, offering her hand to the small girl. She felt absolutely horrible for her, she knew what it was like, not having a family. She had killed her own mother and she had never met her father. Red had a twisted, dark past that wasn't for the ears of a child so sweet and she blinked quickly as the tiny bird drew close to her, only to flit back to the small girl when she called for it. She smiled at the gentle exchange, it was so utterly adorable. "C'mon... if nothing else you will feel better with a bit of food in your belly."
