MEREDY
"Baiba!"
you say you're curious
CAN'T LEAVE A THING TO YOUR IMAGINATION
AGE: 16
GENDER: Female
SEXUALITY Probably straight, but she is too young for that
BIRTHDAY: N/A
CLASS: Commoner
TITLE/RANK: Craymel Mage
OCCUPATION: She probably will be wandering about, doing works here and there
ALIGNMENT: Good
SPECIES: celestian, the only thing that differentiates her of a human is the gem on her forehead, called erala, but it doesn’t give her any power, it's only a means to communicate strong emotions between members of the same species, in this case, the celestians, but given that on this new world is not probable to be celestians about, she can be considered a normal human. This, however, makes her really empathic with the emotions of others.
MAGICAL POWERS: Meredy is a craymel mage, and her attacks are called 'Craymel Artes'.
Craymels are pseudo-sentient elemental beings in the realm of Eternia, representing the source of magical energy. Craymels can have many manifestations, for example, all living beings contain water craymels among other elemental craymels.
To use the power of craymels, the craymel mage contain them in a craymel cage, a small, tube like device that is used as the focus for generating spells called Craymel Artes, activated with incantations spoken in the Melnics language, they concentrate in the elemental craymel they wish it to manifest in the form of an attack. The artes vary depending on their element and their level.
After this explanation, and taking in to account that Meredy comes from a world where ice, lightning, earth and shadow craymels are most prominent, I’ll be making her artes based on those elements.
- Earth artes - Basic: grave (spear-shaped rocks are thrust up from below) / Middle: stalagmite (massive boulders are jetted out from below) / Advanced: ground dasher (a huge triangular chasm opens under the target, calling forth a wave of several stalagmites that rise and fall through the ground, juggling and dealing very heavy damage to all enemies within range) // Summon, Earth: The Greater Craymel Gnome appears from below the enemies, raising stalagmites around him, then disappears.
- Ice artes - Basic: icicle (raises icicles beneath the target) / Middle: freeze lancer (the enemy is showered with spears of ice) / Advanced: absolute (forms a spike of ice on the ground where the target was standing at the end of the incantation, and if it hits, it will freeze the enemy into a ball of ice, which then shatters) // Summon, Ice: The Greater Craymel Celcius, aided by her companion the Wolf of ice named Fenrir, fire beams of ice to the enemies in unison (Celcius from her hands and Fenrir from its mouth), then, they disappear.
- Lightning artes - Basic: lightning (creates a small bolt of lightning to strike the target.) / Middle: thunder blade (summons a large sword of lightning in the sky, which pierces into the ground to create an electric shock that affects a circular area around the impact point) / Advanced: Indignation (this spell summons a single, massive bolt of lightning that creates a large dome of energy around its impact point) // Summon, Lightning: the Greater Craymel Volt appears and releases multiple lightings in a circular area around him, then disappears.
- Shadow artes - Middle: dark force (a spike of darkness rises into the air from under the target, then, comes down as multiple spikes that cause a multi-hitting explosion of dark energy) / Advanced: Bloody howl (a portal is opened near the enemy, from which a howling shade appears. It cycles across the entire area, damaging everything in its path until it disappears) // Summon, Shadow: The Greater Craymel Shadow appears and delivers a powerful slash to the enemies with his double-bladed sword of shadow, then disappears.
CANON/OC: Canon
TV SERIES: Tales of Eternia[/ul]
but oh, you seem so serious
I SHOULD ENJOY THE SWEET INTERROGATION
HAIR: long, curly and with a light lilac tone, tied in two ponytails on either side of her head
WEIGHT: 99 lbs
HEIGHT: 5' 1.8"
PLAY-BY: Meredy
GENERAL:
Meredy is a short and lithe girl, overall she appears to be a normal young girl, but her foreigner looks are bound to attract attention. The gem on her forehead, called erala, glows when Meredy is feeling strong emotions. To this, Quickie must be added, as his looks are quite strange too.
She tends to run in little hops (imagine the way Heidi runs in the opening of her series), and her ponytails are really bouncy. Because of this, she appears to float sometimes, but more so if she is wearing her elegant white-flower like dress.
She is rather graceful, even if she doesn’t notice it and could be in a high standing meeting easily, that is, if she doesn't speak that much, as her vocabulary isn’t that extensive.
Actually, it isn’t known if Meredy speaks like we hear her or if it’s merely that the orz earring filters her foreign language to English and this is the result.
ATTIRE: She has two sets of clothes; one is a white and flowing dress similar to a flower and extremely decorated; and the second one is a more normal pink dress, she usually wears the pink dress over the white one, as a means to go unnoticed.

Aside from that, she wears on right her ear a single earring of a glowing blue crystal called Orz crystal. Because she is from Celestia, she only speaks Melniks language (an ancient language lost in time in Inferia), but the earring makes her able to understand and be understood.[/ul]
i should not be telling you
I'M FLATTERED BY YOUR INTEREST
- Dance
- Play a Celestian instrument called 'Vitae', it is an instrument similar to the violin, but with the sound of a koto.
- Playing a Celestian card game called WHIS, which has the same rules as the UNO
- Having fun in general
- Explore
- Help others
DISLIKES:
- Being separated from Quickie
- Rude people
- Not being able to help
- Being underestimated
STRENGTHS:
- Despise her childish looks and attitude she is very strong emotionally and has firm convictions.
- She is small and slender, making her fast and silent when needed
- Her magic attacks are powerful
WEAKNESSES:
- She can be a bit naïve at times and trusts others rather easily…
- She is not strong physically, will depend very much on others.
- While casting, she cannot do anything apart of concentrating in the spell, making her totally defenseless.
- Depending on the level of the attack, she may tire more quickly, artes of the advanced level take a lot of her energy.
QUIRKS/HABITS:
- When she is surprised she often exclaims 'baiba!' which means 'wow!' in Melniks, when excited; she'll yell 'waiiru!' which means 'cool!' and for affirming, she always says 'you bet!'
- When spellcasting, before she says the name of the spell, she murmurs 'waitsun imu' which means, 'come on', as if an incantation, this is only on the basic and middle leveled artes, as the advanced levels and summons have their own incantations.
- When speaking of her herself, she uses the third person.
FEARS:
What most frightens her is being completely and utterly alone, she needs to be with someone. That is why she adores her pet, Quickie, it’s been with her since she was a little child.
She has had a rather traumatic past, and she suffers of nightmares sometimes from that.
GOALS: For now, her primary goal would be to find a way to return home…
PERSONALITY
Meredy's playful attitude is reminiscent of a cheerful, small child. She jumps on things and dances spontaneously, and she often speaks with incorrect grammar. She is always trying to cheer everyone up and is open to help every person in need she sees, she is really empathic in that aspect.
Meredy is rather honest and open with her feelings, and if she doesn’t like something she will say so. Even so, she can understand when a situation is serious, and, even if she doesn’t understand what’s happening completely, she’ll try to act accordingly, attempting to help in any way she may be capable of.
She is a sweet and optimistic child, with a sad past, but she still retains the courage and determination to achieve the objectives she pursues.[/ul]

HISTORY:
*Spoiler alert for the game Tales of Eternia, read at own risk (I only explain ALL the game, hmmm… >_____>Uu)*
Events Prior to the game:
Shizel was a young female Celestian living a regular life, until one day when she met Transon Balir, 30 years before the start of the game. Balir was an Inferian who came into Celestia through the Bridge of Light, which he had discovered upon Mt. Farlos in Inferia. Shizel helped him and the pair eventually fell in love, and together they had a baby girl whom they named Meredy, over a decade after he first finds himself in Celestia. But, most importantly, the couple believed that their destinies were intertwined, sharing a unique vision of the future, an ideal realm beyond the material world where all pain and suffering would cease to exist.
Forsaking his given name of Transon, Balir cut all ties with his home world, perceiving himself as a Celestian at heart, in spite of the sentiment of racism held by members of Celestia's government. The strength of their racial hatred led them to overthrow the Celestian king, using Balir as a scapegoat who would receive the blame of murdering him. One of these officials, an advisor to the king named Birial, planted false evidence to frame Balir as the one who assassinated the king, using this as an excuse to take control over Celestia's military forces, leading them on to besiege Balir and Shizel's home in Luishka.
Aware that their family had been betrayed, Balir tried to facilitate Shizel and Meredy's escape from Luishka by acting as a decoy, in order to split Birial's soldiers. Intending to seek help from her brother Hyades, Shizel brought Meredy with her, protecting her daughter with her spellcraft as they push through the military forces. However, upon meeting Hyades, Shizel discovered that he had collaborated with Birial in a bid for power, fully aware of the other man's intention of pinning the blame on his own brother-in-law Balir as an excuse for his execution. Hyades readily delivered his sister and neice to Birial, and the accomplices held Shizel and Meredy hostage to force Balir to reveal himself and surrender to his forces as a traitor. Knowing that his family was in danger, Balir gave himself up, but Birial merely commanded his soldiers to shoot all of them. Balir rushed to Shizel's side to shield her from the bullets, causing him to die in her arms.
This act horrified Shizel, but Balir's final words to his beloved were a reminder of their combined goal, to seek what cannot be reached. At the same time, a voice whispered to Shizel, telling her to entrust her heart to it, and Shizel submits herself completely to this unknown force. It is at this time when Nereid, an ancient godlike entity that had been sealed by Seyfert 2,000 years prior to this era, finally broke free from the seal that kept it from interfering with the combined realm of Eternia. Shizel's hatred for Balir's murderers quickly became a hatred for the material world, and this enabled Nereid to unite its will with Shizel's fury, providing Nereid with a means of possessing her body and escaping its prison. As the soldiers continued to shoot Shizel, their bullets could not kill her body, and Shizel unknowingly uses Nereid's powers to envelop the area in the power of her Dark Aurora, completely leveling the village of Luishka and annihilating nearly all of the people around her.
Following the cataclysm, only Hyades and Meredy survived, somehow spared from the destruction due to their shared bloodline with Shizel, which was now bound to Nereid's Fibrill, or magical energy. But this did not save them from Shizel herself. She began a series of cruel and inhumane experiments upon both of them in order to learn how to control the Dark Aurora and use it to her advantage, unaware of Nereid's malignant spirit which had tainted her mind with evil thoughts. Both Hyades and Meredy were forced to endure the experiments, and as a result, Hyades soon gave in to his own growing insanity, haunted by horrors which extend far beyond guilt for betraying his own family.
However, at one point before her coming of age upon her tenth birthday, Meredy was able to escape from Shizel's experiments with the aid of a retired Craymel Engineer and researcher named Galenos. Meredy and Galenos settled into hiding in Imen, where Meredy began to study under the researcher as an apprentice. However, Meredy had a misunderstanding of the events that had occurred during her youth, believing that the destruction of Luishka was somehow caused by Meredy's father Balir. Meredy went on to believe that her mother's cruelty following the event was also the fault of Balir. Because of this, Meredy sought to learn how to control the power of the Craymels in order to defeat Balir.
At the same time, Shizel used the chaos generated by the loss of the Celestian king and the destruction of Luishka to claim sovereignty over Celestia as Balir, knowing that the claim would not be taken seriously if she had done so using her own image. Due to the Celestian belief that the ruler of the world should be the strongest in the world, her claim to ruling all of Celestia as Balir was put into question by the onset of rebellion groups, most notably the Shileska Freedom Army led by Max and Ayla. To secure her position of power, a castle was constructed in the middle of the sea, protected by barriers generated by Shizel's Dark Aurora. This castle became the final resting place of the actual Balir, as his deceased body was carefully placed upon the royal throne, where it would start to rot until only his mummified skeletal remains could be seen years later.
From this position, Shizel encouraged the onset of anarchy and warfare, keeping the whole of Celestia fragmented so it could not unite and remove her from power. But she had no interest in the affairs of politics and law, so she withdrew herself and the image of Balir from public view so that she could concentrate more on attaining the power to achieve her ultimate goal of destroying Eternia and returning everything to nothingness, fulfilling her maddened interpretation of Balir's dream. This matched Nereid's own desire to destroy Seyfert's creations and restore the primordial state of reality where Nereid once held its domain, Vatenkeist. To accomplish this, she started to gather the power of all of Eternia's Craymels, absorbing their energies to complete Nereid's Fibrill, and enhance the destructive power of her Dark Aurora. Envisioning the destruction that had occurred in Luishka on a scale that affects all of Eternia, Shizel used her power to slowly accumulate dark matter on the Orbus Barrier, increasing its gravitational force upon the twin worlds of Celestia and Inferia.
Discovering that the distance between the two planets was decreasing, as well as the appearance of dark matter within the Orbus Barrier, Galenos theorized the onset of the Grand Fall, an apocalyptic event in which the two worlds would impact each other with such devastating force that even the worlds themselves would be annihilated. Aware that such a catastrophe could not be possible by human hands, he concluded that it is the power of the Dark Aurora which he and Meredy believed was controlled by Balir. To avert this disaster, Meredy volunteers to travel to Inferia in order to gather the Greater Craymels of that world, as well as any technology or friendly forces who would support her in defeating Balir.
Events of the game:
Reid Hershel, along with his childhood friend Farah Oersted, notice an unusual change in the color of the Orbus Barrier coupled with the flight of a strange ship from Celestia. When they go to see what happened, they meet Meredy, who is dressed in a strange fashion and speaks a bizarre foreign language, and her pet Quickie. Consequently, Reid and Farah visit their childhood friend, Keele Zeibel, in search of answers regarding the identity of Meredy. Reid learns that she speaks Melnics, an ancient civilization's language. After traveling to Morle, the group receives a special translation earring that allows communication with Meredy.
They continue to Inferia City, the global capital. The group asks the King of Inferia for help, but Reid is accused of spreading fear and confusion throughout the land; the punishment is a death sentence. The princess wants to know more about what they have to say, so the group is released. Reid explains the situation, and the leaders of Inferia hold an organizational conference. The Inferians announce they will uncover the Bridge of Light and stop the Celestians from executing the Grand Fall by taking aggressive military action. The party is aided by Efreet, Undine and Sylph; the group is led by Rem to the Bridge of Light, which resides atop the highest mountain in Inferia. After climbing the mountain, they locate the Bridge of Light in its stone sanctum. Reid's group is confronted by Rassius Luine, a senior knight loyal to the Kingdom of Inferia. Ras loses to them in combat, and watches the group escapes via the Bridge of Light to Celestia as Inferian reinforcements arrive.
Upon returning to Celestia with the Inferian Greater Craymels, the group is greeted by the citizens of Imen, Meredy's hometown. They travel by rail to the ruined city Luishka; Galenos examines Reid's body as he houses an unknown fibril, and the group discovers that Reid is the bearer of Seyfer’s Fibrill magical energy. The group knows that the Greater Craymel Gnome in a nearby cave, and they enlist his help. Afterwards, the group stumbles upon Chat's hut, and the party is accepted into her crew after a series of tests; they now have access to the sea-based form of transportation. Using the Van Eltia, they reach Peruti, the frozen town near the dominion of Greater Craymel Celsius. They climb the nearby mountain and help Celsius regain her sanity, saving Peruti. The group is invited by Max to join the Shileska liberation army in order to stop Balir, the cause of the Grand Fall.
At the technologically advanced city of Tinnsia, They meet Max, the leader of the Shileska liberation army; Max joins them in their journey. And after finding the Greater Craymel Volt trapped in a machine at the Ruins of Volt, the group frees him and receives his power.
Meredy and her party join the Shileska Freedom Army in order to discover the whereabouts of Balir's Castle and the means of penetrating its magical barriers. Upgrading the Van Eltia with the Craymel Cannon, combined with the support of Shileska, the group manages to break through the fleet loyal to Balir and break the barrier surrounding the castle. Upon infiltrating the castle, the group makes its way to the throne room, eager to defeat Balir and put an end to the Grand Fall. However, they discover Balir's dead body upon the throne, and they are surprised to learn from Shizel that she was the one who had been controlling the Grand Fall. She insists that she is carrying out Balir's will through the destruction of all material things. At this moment, a unit of Shileska rebels commanded by Max also makes its way to the throne room, but everyone in the room is quickly overwhelmed by Shizel's powers.
Before Shizel is able to destroy everyone with her Dark Aurora, she is stopped by Rassius Luine, who was also another bearer of Seyfert's Fibrill. However, he had failed to complete the Trials of Seyfert, so his Divine Aurora is incomplete and is no match for Shizel's powers. Still, he uses all of his strength to shield the party from Shizel's Eternal Finality using his Aurora Wall, and the impact of the resulting explosion throws everyone out of the throne room and into the courtyard of the castle. Ras dies due to being overwhelmed by the dark energies that Shizel possessed, while the force of the explosion also injured Shizel. As Balir's corpse falls forward from its seated position on the throne, Shizel transports herself onto the Orbus Barrier, within her own domain within the dark matter, a nightmarish realm that expresses a reflection of her inner soul, a physical manifestation of Vatenkeist itself.
Undeterred by the death of their friend Ras, the resolve of the party to defeat Shizel grew significantly, and Reid pursues the same Trials of Seyfert that Ras failed to complete. After discovering Meredy's past and the events that led to Shizel's sorrow and madness, Reid attains the full power of a god, that of Seyfert himself, through the completed Divine Aurora. With this newfound strength, the party could now face Shizel and endure her Dark Aurora, which was also nearing completion. Nereid's persona manifests itself more and more clearly, until Shizel's soul could no longer maintain its control upon her own body. Nereid takes full possession of her body as a result, and when the party recognizes that Shizel is no longer herself, Nereid uses Shizel's body to fight the party.
However, Shizel's soul, while shamed by her own actions, still has enough willpower to resist in whatever way it could, to prevent herself from hurting her daughter Meredy as much as possible. Genuinely confused by her resistance, Nereid fails to understand her feelings and the concept of positive change borne from strife and chaos. Nereid transmutes Shizel's body into a grotesque, draconic form, while Nereid itself is manifested as a massive shadow that hovers over its host. Engaging in battle with the party once more, Nereid attempts to use its completed Dark Aurora to engulf everything with its dark energies using Finality Dead End, but Reid counters it with his Aurora Wave, using his godlike powers to reverse the damage and vanquish Nereid from Shizel's body.
Unfortunately, this fails to stop the Grand Fall, since the worlds of Celestia and Inferia had reached the critical point, after which the gravity of both worlds would be irreversible, drawing them closer together until the inevitable collision. Realizing that a powerful force is required to separate the two worlds, Reid and Meredy decide to combine their Divine and Dark Auroras, thereby destroying the union of Eternia as created by Seyfert using his own Fibrill. In the process of activating the process upon the Seyfert Ring, Nereid tries to use this opportunity of extreme physical and mental pressure to enter Meredy and possess her body, but Shizel stops the process, in spite of her heavy wounds from the battle. Reminding Meredy that farewells are not the end and that they will be together for all eternity, Shizel shows Meredy that she has regained full control of herself and is willing to sacrifice herself to atone for all that she has done. She takes Meredy's place and resumes the combination of powers with Reid, and Nereid is pulled once more into Shizel's body, which again starts to mutate, this time becoming a tentacle creature. She is pulled into the core of Seyfert Ring, again sealing Nereid while the force generated by the combination of the auroras breaks apart the Seyfert Ring itself, fracturing the Orbus Barrier and reconstructing reality so that Celestia and Inferia would become two completely separate planets.

EXAMPLE:
Meredy was alone in a room, lying on her stomach and painting in a sheet on the floor while she hummed some tune. She was waiting for Reid and Farah to return from shopping and Keele had closed himself off, saying he was going to study something or other and that wasn’t to be disturbed. Keele could be a little rude at times, but Meredy didn’t mind, because she knew that the man could be caring and gentle sometimes, even if those were rare moments.
So, Meredy continued her drawings, while Quickie was running around the room, playing with whatever he found.
Meredy giggled.
"Baiba! Quickie, don’t run so fast! Meredy cannot draw you this way!"
"Kw-Kweeky~" chimed the blue animal, it started to look around the room, poised on his large tail.
Meredy resumed her drawings.
"Hummm… Meredy thinks a little red will do Quickie good, do not you think?"
"Kwee? Kweeky!"
Meredy laughed and proceeded to grab de red crayon out of a box she had near her, instantly painting on the drawing.
"Look, look! Now you can breathe fire!" Exclaimed Meredy, holding the drawing so the animal could see, the painting depicted Quickie on all fours, a ferocious look on his face and his mouth open, breathing fire in an attacking fashion, beside him, was a girl in a pink dress and lilac hair was clapping her hands.
The girl put the painting on the floor again and grabbed a blue crayon to continue her art. "And now you can walk on water too! Aren't you great?" Meredy laughed, delighted, and Quickie ran around her, excited at the news.
"Maybe you would like to fly too?" the girl asked.
"Kwee!"
"Alright! Meredy will draw pretty wings for Quickie too!" and she proceeded to do as said, the animal perched himself on her head, observing her work.
